Read Joel 2:15
This is a copy of my weekly newspaper article. Hope you are blessed by reading it.
Believe Again
Over the last few months we have watched as whole nations in the Middle East are being turned upside down by revolution. There seems to be revolution in the air as people grow weary of tyranny and become desperate for true freedom. Sadly these revolutions have come at the cost of great destruction and bloodshed. It just goes to show what happens when a people become desperate for freedom. They can only endure abuse and bondage for so long before the cauldron of discontent reaches the boiling point and explodes into the streets. History has proven this repeatedly. But now there is a revolution growing much closer to home than you may imagine. It’s right here in Breathitt County.
There is a growing movement seeking a new day and a new life in our beloved county. A revolution, that is barely noticeable by most will soon spill out into our very streets. People have grown weary of a rampant drug problem, economic stagnation, Government corruption, and empty and powerless churches while families are plagued with violence, adultery, and despair. They have begun to seek real change. Over the last few months this revolution seeking change has been growing and eventually will be noticeable. But unlike the revolutions in other countries, this one will not be characterized by violence, but by prayer, and love and service to others.
There are people who have committed themselves to the idea that the only hope for our community is Jesus Christ. Politics, religion, and education fall flat in terms of making lasting change without Him. God has been raising up an army of followers of Jesus to pray and obey his commands for the transformation of Breathitt County. This army is made up of Christians of all denominations and churches. Will you join the revolution? Will you call your church to prayer for revival? Will you seek the Lord for your community? Someday is over. The time for change is now. The time to seek God is now, not later. The Breathitt County Prayer Movement is holding some events this month for all those who are in agreement with what I have been saying. I hope you will join us.
- March 17th – Downtown prayer walk. We will follow the historic tour of Jackson and pray for forgiveness and healing from the sins of the past. I especially urge community leaders to join us as we break the curse of Bloody Breathitt and step into a new day. Meet at the Courthouse at 6p.m.
- March 18-20 – “Blow the Trumpet Prayer Conference.” a non-denominational gathering of Believers from all over the county for worship, training, inspiration and ministry to mobilize the gathered church in our county to prayer and service to our community. Other things are going on as well.
