Read Romans 1:4
“and was declared to be the Son of God in power”
From the time Jesus burst from the waters of baptism all the way until he burst forth from the grave his life was marked by the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. In today’s verse we read that he was declared to be the Son of God through his resurrection from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit. The greatest evidence of his sonship was when the spirit of God raised Jesus from the dead. The grave could not hold on as the unfathomable power of God coursed through Jesus body flipping on the switches and calling him to glorious life! We know he is the Son of God because he has been raised from the dead through the power of the Spirit.
In Ephesians 1 Paul prays that the believers would someday realize that this same resurrection power that dwells in Christ is within us today. That power which identified him as the Son also identifies us as sons and daughters. Romans 8 tells us that if we don’t have the spirit we are not his at all. We are joint heirs with Jesus Christ and as we share in his sufferings so we also share in his resurrection and the power of it. No wonder Paul said to the Philippians, “I want to know him and the power of his resurrection…” Is this your desire as a Christian? Do you desire to know the power that raised Christ from the dead? Do you and I even believe it exists? How can you slink around in defeat and false humility saying, “I’m no good. I have nothing to offer. I cannot be effective for God. I’m just too weak.”
Stop insulting the Spirit of grace! If you are born again then you are infused with resurrection power! That power can break addictions like twigs. It can heal the sick. It can deliver the oppressed. It can raise the dead. Denying this power is tantamount to denying Christ, because it is Christ in you that produces this power. As a child of God you are sealed and empowered with the Holy Spirit and he desires to raise you from dead living each day and to use you to produce life in others! Stop sitting in religious self pity and go after the kingdom!
