Read Philippians 1:12
“For the advance of the gospel.”
What is your status as far as God is concerned? I mean think about it. If your Facebook or Twitter status suddenly took on a life of its own and began to reflect the condition of your heart what would yours say? What if God were in charge of writing in your status box? What would he say about the things that are happening in your life at this moment? What issues would God consider worth mentioning?
If the words in our scripture today are any indication of the heart of God it seems that he may write about your circumstances in light of the gospel. He may not be quite as interested in proclaiming the drama in your office or school, as in the drama of saving the world and your part in it. Paul was in jail for the gospel. He saw clearly that the salvation of lost souls is of such deep importance to God that he will allow his servants to go through whatever it takes to get this wonderful message out.
You see in God’s Facebook there are only two options for a person’s status: Lost forever or saved in Christ. Of all the things we fight and strive for the greatest issue of life is where you are spending eternity. As Christians our lives are wrapped up in the cause of the gospel.
The reason so many Christians are bored in the Lord is simple. They are not involved in the work of the gospel. They still think they were saved so they could pursue the American Dream rather than the kingdom of God. If Facebook reflected the status of our Christian lives what would it say? “Living for Christ?” or “Living for self.”? The choice is yours to make today.
