“For we are His workmanship”
I am writing today to those of you who seem to think you are God’s gift to the world. You have the audacity, the nerve to imagine that you are so special and that this planet is so privileged to have you in its presence. You have this outrageous idea that your very presence on the earth gives the angels cause to marvel and that everyone who sees you should just think you are so completely wonderful they should be excited just to know you.
Well listen here you! I have news for you! According to the Bible… you are exactly right. Praise God for making you and breathing his glorious life into your amazing soul. Praise God for crafting you with such incredible precision that his glory just flows out of your redeemed life even when you don’t know it. As a born again child of the most high God, you are blessing people even when you aren’t trying to. God is awesome and you are an awesomite!
I know that the more sanctimonious among us are offended right now because they want you to think you are a nobody. They are so fixed on the truth that we are all sinners by nature that they forget the marvelous work of redemption that has taken place through the cross. They still think we are living in the days of Noah when God “regretted having made man.” They forget that in Christ all that has been removed and through the cross we are “Created in Christ Jesus to do good works which God prepared in advance for us to do.” So I respectfully say to the religious condemners of this age… get a life. Loosen your neck tie and take a breath. Get over the lostness of your former life. Stop whining about what you used to be. Quit pouting over your false humility and get excited about the awesome workmanship you are in Christ Jesus!
Friend, while we must be aware that our sin nature is still with us and that we can do nothing to save ourselves, we must remember that when we come to Christ we are recreated in him and made new. We have been transferred out of the realm of darkness and into the realm of light (Colossians 1:13-14) You are so cool in God! You are gifted, anointed, and filled with glory! God is awesome and his desire is for us to become awesomites! He gets no glory out of this sanctified pity party that so many are living in.
Do you honestly think the Son of Glory came to this earth and crushed the powers of darkness so you could sit around telling yourself how awful you are? Get real. The Bible tells us once we were pretty awful. Yes we were dead in sin and separated from God. But the key word is “were”. Hello! You are a new creature now. So get up out of the ashes and go do something cool for God. He already has it set up (Prepared in advance) so all you have to do is walk in him and the opportunities to show off his glory will present themselves. You are God’s finest today! So cancel your plans to be miserable today. Resign your post as president of the downer society. Turn in your dark cloud, and go be awesome for Jesus.
In Christ you are God’s gift to this world. Go get unwrapped and bless somebody.
