Attitude is Everything!

Attitude is everythingJerry was the kind of guy you love to hate. He was always in a good mood and always had something positive to say. When someone would ask him how he was doing, he would reply, “If I were any better, I would be twins!”

He was a unique manager because he had several waiters who had followed him around from restaurant to restaurant. The reason the waiters followed Jerry was because of his attitude. He was a natural motivator. If an employee was having a bad day, Jerry was there telling the employee how to look on the positive side of the situation.

Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I went up to Jerry and asked him, “I don’t get it! You can’t be a positive person all of the time. How do you do it?” Jerry replied, “Each morning I wake up and say to myself, Jerry, you have two choices today. You can choose to be in a good mood or you can choose to be in a bad mood.’ I choose to be in a good mood.

Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or I can choose to learn from it. I choose to learn from it. Every time someone comes to me complaining, I can choose to accept their complaining or I can point out the positive side of life. I choose the positive side of life.”

“Yeah, right, it’s not that easy,” I protested.

“Yes it is,” Jerry said. “Life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk, every situation is a choice. You choose how you react to situations. You choose how people will affect your mood. You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood. The bottom line: It’s your choice how you live life.” I reflected on what Jerry said. Soon thereafter, I left the restaurant industry to start my own business. We lost touch, but often thought about him when I made a choice about life instead of reacting to it.

Several years later, I heard that Jerry did something you are never supposed to do in a restaurant business: he left the back door open one morning and was held up at gunpoint by three armed robbers. While trying to open the safe, his hand, shaking from nervousness, slipped off the combination. The robbers panicked and shot him. Luckily, Jerry was found relatively quickly and rushed to the local trauma center.

After 18 hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, Jerry was released from the hospital with fragments of the bullets still in his body. I saw Jerry about six months after the accident. When I asked him how he was, he replied, “If I were any better, I’d be twins. Wanna see my scars?”

I declined to see his wounds, but did ask him what had gone through his mind as the robbery took place. “The first thing that went through my mind was that I should have locked the back door,” Jerry replied. “Then, as I lay on the floor, I remembered that I had two choices: I could choose to live, or I could choose to die. I chose to live.

“Weren’t you scared? Did you lose consciousness?” I asked. Jerry continued, “The paramedics were great. They kept telling me I was going to be fine. But when they wheeled me into the emergency room and I saw the expressions on the faces of the doctors and nurses, I got really scared. In their eyes, I read, ‘He’s a dead man.” I knew I needed to take action.”

“What did you do?” I asked.

“Well, there was a big, burly nurse shouting questions at me,” said Jerry. “She asked if I was allergic to anything. ‘Yes,’ I replied. The doctors and nurses stopped working as they waited for my reply. I took a deep breath and yelled, ‘Bullets!’ Over their laughter, I told them, ‘I am choosing to live. Operate on me as if I am alive, not dead.”

Jerry lived thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude. I learned from him that every day we have the choice to live fully. Attitude, after all, is everything.

Common Good

Common GoodWhat Secular Humanists did not win in court in the early 2000’s from the Boy Scouts of America, they have now won in 2013 through infiltration and subversion of the BSA Executive Board and many Councils. Predictably the BSA’s 2013 surrender of moral values was just the beginning of the end of morality and Duty to God in Scouting. Read all about it…

‘GAY’ ACTIVISTS WANT MUCH MORE FROM BOY SCOUTS

http://www.wnd.com/2013/05/gay-activists-want-much-more-from-boy-scouts/

The homosexual-rights group GLAAD said it and other like-minded activist groups will now encourage “gay” youth to participate in the Boy Scouts. But spokesman Ross Murray said “the ban on gay adult leaders is still a major barrier for many families and organizations.”

When these sexual deviants eventually come to your son’s Troop and get turned away, both the sponsoring organization and the troop leadership can and will be sued, as will the local Council. Since the BSA caved on their values, now the lid is off “Pandora’s Box.” Next will come forced acceptance of Homosexual leaders.

Now here comes the Secular Humanist atheist crowd demanding their Secular Humanist piece of the BSA pie. Read about the predictable BSA Assault by Atheists. When the BSA caves on that front, the BSA print material will radically change to be more “inclusive”, less “offensive” to the godless Secular Humanists. Scout leaders will be forced to not teach or even speak things that might “offend.” Why it would be unthinkable to these godless Secular Humanists to teach a child a true moral value or to believe in God.

I challenge readers to pick up a Girl Scouts of America Handbook and read through it and read their leadership rules, and compare it to 25 years ago. The GSA surrendered and caved with little fight. The GSA now has nothing left that resembles traditional Judeo-Christian moral values. The Girl Scout print material is 100% Secular Humanist today. It will take less time for the BSA. The Secular Humanist crowd already have the model in place, the lawsuits already typed.

If, or when, The Defense of Marriage Act is overturned by the SCOTUS, they will likely, at the same time, deem that these people have a Civil Right to behave this way. Then churches will eventually be sued for refusing to perform homosexual marriages and not allowing married homosexual members to be join. And Don’t even think of preaching against their sin, or you’ll go to jail. That’s the end game of so called “hate speech”… To silence the Christian voice.

That’s how this Secular Humanist crowd works. I’ve actively watched them operate since 1980 when I first heard of Secular Humanism, of which this brand of homosexual deviants are but one tentacle.

You see, Secular Humanists do not want “tolerance.” They intend to force you to change your beliefs and values and openly demonize and punish those who refuse. They define tolerance as everyone accepting their twisted morality as “normal.” Do that and you are “tolerant.” Refuse to accept and openly condone their sinful lifestyles and you are intolerant.

I joined the BSA in 1970. I became an Eagle Scout in 1977. I am still a registered leader. Sexual orientation has never been asked of any leader or scout. Agreeing with the Scout Oath and Scout law are required to be taught and modeled. The Oath requires scouts to be “morally straight,” which is not possible if you are Homosexual, a thief, a fornicator or a murderer. However, the Homosexual/Humanist activists now demand that deviant sexual perversion be deemed “moral”, by fiat.

The Case Law Path is already paved… In 1982 the SCOTUS declared “To maintain an organized society that guarantees religious freedom to a great variety of faiths requires some religious practices to yield to the “common good.”

Violating your faith for the “Common Good” is Secular humanist Doctrine and common buzz word. Doubt it?

Read this: http://thecommongood.net/2012/02/justice-scalia-on-religious-freedom/

That article above is written from the Humanists’ point of view.

Studying secular humanism in depth, you will easily understand how our nation slipped from being a God fearing, and God honoring nation to one that is mostly secular, pagan and now openly blasphemous and growing more militant in attacking Christians and openly persecuting them. It did not happen by chance, it happened by design and careful planning. Humanist doctrines were spread through Public education for almost a century, from kindergarten to grad school. It’s doctrines infiltrated and consumed most great theological schools in Europe and America then spread like a cancer through churches, leading to doctrinal splits in most mainline protestant denominations in the past 80 years. Secular Humanism has been cloaked under many monikers: Liberal, Democratic, Progressive, pro-choice, and many others. At the root of it all though, lies the Satanic doctrines of Secular Humanism.

The “Gaying of America” is just one more nail being used in the coffin of biblical Christianity in America. Christians are not losing the “Culture War”, we have already lost it. We lost it, as a group, through indifference, surrender, passivism, and more often than not, we lost it by fighting on the side of the enemy, criticizing and condemning those relatively few who were engaged in battle with the enemy, claiming “tolerance” and “civility” while the Humanist crowd continues daily to use every wicked, deceitful and hateful means possible to attack and inject venom into the active duty Christian Soldier.

To the Humanist, the end always justifies their means. We Christians meanwhile stick our collective heads and the sand, take a Pollyanna approach and often “shoot our own” in social media gossip instead of engaging the real enemy. Someone once wrote a controversial book about Islam called “Satanic Verses.” I would say the real “Satanic Verses” though are the tenets of Secular Humanism and all their commentary and ideals and twisted perverted morality. Secular Humanists have stolen our nation and are leading it toward collapse with their socialist economics while openly persecuting and silencing the Gospel message and those who dare to spread it. Doubt it? Try openly and publicly praying in the name of Jesus and see what happens. You will quickly find the First Amendment no longer applies to Christians.

FOURTEENTH tenet of Humanist Manifesto I (1933): The humanists are firmly convinced that existing acquisitive and profit-motivated society has shown itself to be inadequate and that a radical change in methods, controls, and motives must be instituted. A socialized and cooperative economic order must be established to the end that the equitable distribution of the means of life be possible. The goal of humanism is a free and universal society in which people voluntarily and intelligently cooperate for the common good. Humanists demand a shared life in a shared world.

TENTH tenet of Humanist Manifesto II (1973): Humane societies should evaluate economic systems not by rhetoric or ideology, but by whether or not they increase economic well-being for all individuals and groups, minimize poverty and hardship, increase the sum of human satisfaction, and enhance the quality of life. Hence the door is open to alternative economic systems. We need to democratize the economy and judge it by its responsiveness to human needs, testing results in terms of the common good.

These sound almost pleasing, until you see it in action. To illustrate what the Homosexual agenda is really about, consider the recent push at the Department of Justice in an article by Todd Starnes…

Liberty Counsel said DOJ employees were emailed a brochure called “LGBT Inclusion at Work: The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Managers.” The brochure was created as a resource from DOJ Pride, an association of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees of the DOJ. A Department of Justice spokesperson did not return calls seeking comment. Fox News also reached out to DOJ Pride for comment – but emails were not answered. Among the directives in the brochure is an order for workers to vocally affirm homosexuality. “Don’t judge or remain silent,” the brochure read. “Silence will be interpreted as disapproval.” They were also told to post “DOJ Pride” stickers in their office to indicate “that it is a safe place.” One gay DOJ employee is quoted in the directive; “Silence seems like disapproval. There’s still an atmosphere of LGBT issues not being appropriate for the workplace (particularly for transgender people), or that people who bring it up are trying to rock the boat.” Mat Staver, founder of Liberty Counsel, said every American should be outraged by the DOJ orders. “This administration is pushing the most radical, immoral agenda on the American people,” Staver said. “Christians are not merely required to ‘shut up,’ but now they are being coerced to embrace immorality that goes against their sincerely held religious beliefs.”

(Source http://radio.foxnews.com/toddstarnes/top-stories/doj-tells-employees-to-verbally-affirm-homosexuality.html)

You see… Even being silent is not good enough. they insist Christians proactively promote their perversion. To the Humanist crowd, tolerance means you have no choice but to alter your Christian beliefs and ‘kowtow" to the immoral beliefs and ungodly practices of both Secular Humanism and their "sacred cow" named Homosexuality. "The THIRTEENTH
tenet of Humanist Manifesto 1 (1933) says "Religious humanism maintains that all associations
and institutions exist for the fulfillment of human life. The intelligent evaluation, transformation, control, and direction of such associations and institutions with a view to the enhancement of human life is the purpose and program of humanism. Certainly religious institutions, their ritualistic forms, ecclesiastical methods, and communal activities must be reconstituted as rapidly as experience allows, in order to function effectively in the modern world."

So, they want to reconstitute morality? How? "The SIXTH tenet of Humanist Manifesto 2 (1973) we see their brand of "morality" "…In the area of sexuality, we believe that intolerant attitudes, often cultivated by orthodox religions and puritanical cultures, unduly repress sexual conduct. The right to birth control, abortion, and divorce should be recognized." "The many varieties of sexual exploration should not in themselves be considered ‘evil.’"

Humanists wrap their arguments in grand sounding words that sound appealing, but the reality is, their end goal is to silence the Christian voice. In seeking to eradicate perceived religious intolerance, they themselves have become purveyors of intolerance and while demonizing religious dogma have themselves become the the most oppressive spreaders of dogma… humanist dogma.

There is nothing good or godly in the Secular Humanists definition of Common Good.

The World Hates A True Christian

Vance Havnerby Vance Havner

Dr. G. Campbell Morgan wrote:

“The world hates Christian people, that is, if it sees Christ in them. The measure in which the world agrees with us and says we are really a fine type of Christian, we are so entirely broad, is the measure in which we are unlike Christ.”

Our Lord made it plain that because we are not of the world, therefore the world hates us (John 15:19). There is a notion going around these days that we should hobnob with Sodom and get chummy with Gomorrah in order to influence them for good. God’s people are strangers and pilgrims in this world and the world hates them, as it did their Lord, because they testify of it that its works are evil (John 7:7). This ungodly generation is more likely to break our necks than fall on our necks in love and appreciation

Some other quotes by Vance Havner, (1901-1986):

“Plenty of church members are shaky on what they believe, but not shaken by what they believe.”

“We are the salt of the earth, mind you, not the sugar. Our ministry is to truly cleanse, not just to change the taste.”

“The church is a hospital for sinners, not just a museum for saints.”

In Jesus’ Name I Pray

Beware of the Dogma of Secular HumanistsMany Christians close their prayers with something like, “in Jesus’ name, Amen.” Some may word it a little differently. But many will use some formula to indicate that your prayer is in the name of Jesus. Where do we get this? Is it biblical? What does it mean to pray in Jesus name? Consider the following verses:

  • John 14:13: “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.”
  • John 14:14: “If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.”
  • John 15:16: “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.”
  • John 16:23: “And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.”
  • John 16:24: “Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.”
  • John 16:26: “At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you.”

If we Christ followers are to FREELY EXERCISE our religious freedoms granted in the US Constitution, then praying in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, is simply a natural expression of our faith in Christ. Sadly, I learned today that the Pickens County (SC) School board is now bowing their knee to the new State indoctrinated Religion: Secular Humanism.

Amendment I of the US Constitution actually says “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, OR PROHIBITING THE FREE EXERCISE THEROF; or abridging the freedom of speech….”

Yet today we see in the local news that the Freedom from Religion Foundation (FFRF) is violating the First Amendment in the Bill of Rights by threatening legal action because our Pickens School Board allowed its citizens to come into the Board Meetings and FREELY EXERCISE THEIR RELIGIOUS BELIEFS and their right to free speech.

You see, the Separation of Church and State is not in the US Constitution, it is actually part of the Humanist Manifesto II, in the NINTH Tenet, which declares: “The separation of church and state and the separation of ideology and state are IMPERATIVES. The state should encourage maximum freedom for different moral, political, religious, and social values in society. It should not favor any particular religious bodies through the use of public monies, nor espouse a single ideology and function thereby as an instrument of propaganda or oppression, particularly against dissenters.”

Yet it seems that to FFRF, the Secular Humanists beliefs are IMPERATIVES for Christians to be subjugated to. The Secular Humanist FFRF must have misread the First Amendment. It granted freedom OF religion, NOT freedom FROM religion. Unfortunately, too many of today’s Christians are willingly surrendering their Constitutional rights while Secular Humanists like the FFRF are busy ESTABLISHING their atheistic beliefs as the new State sponsored religion. You either submit or are sued.

PICKENS, S.C. —A Christian prayer to begin Pickens County school board meetings are likely a thing of the past. The school board approved the first reading Monday night of a policy that allows only non-sectarian prayer at meetings.

The decision was not well received. The meeting was standing room only, with dozens demanding the board fight “Freedom From Religion,” the organization that threatened a law suit against the school district if it didn’t stop praying before public meeting.

Our God is bigger than the courts and bigger than all the corrupt influences,” said Pickens High School senior Brett Harris

Those who spoke said it’s not about what an organization wants, it’s about what the people want. But the attorney for “Freedom from Religion” says it’s about following the law. Read more>>>

Well, if the FFRF crowd was truly interested in following the law and the US Constitution, instead of trying to re-write it through judicial fiat, they would pack up and go home and stop forcing their beliefs on others.

Christians today need to be more like the Mayor in the movie “Last Ounce of Courage.” In the movie Bob Revere (Marshall Teague), a small-town war hero, is heartbroken when his own son Tom loses his life defending America. Tom left behind a son of his own named Christian, and 14 years later, the young boy and his mother move back to the small town to be with their family for the holidays. Christian disconnects with his grandfather Bob, as they both are going through the pain of losing a dad and losing a son. When Christian is threatened with school suspension for bringing his bible to school, Bob notices that his country is headed in a dangerous direction and that freedom itself is on the line. Encouraged by his grandson Christian, who asks “what did his father die for?”, Bob finally takes a stand for his beliefs and finds himself jailed for putting up the town’s Christmas tree and refusing to take it down. In this beautiful story of love and forgiveness, they discover a way to unite and to make a difference in their community by claiming their freedom and standing up for their rights.

On My Honor…

rockwl19

The Scout Oath…

On my honor I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country
and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong,
mentally awake, and morally straight.

To all who cherish the values and ideals of the Boy Scouts of America:

Today the National BSA Council put off a decision to continue the ban on homosexuals as leaders and as Scouts until May, 2013. While I am relieved that my 10 year old son can now complete his Arrow of Light and my 14 year old son can finish advancing toward 1st Class, I am disappointed that this Executive Board refuses to see clearly enough on this issue and have decided to “kick the can down the road” a bit. These Secular Progressives on the Board need more time to try and use media propaganda to try and shape public opinion, since the rank and file scouts and leaders have now risen up in such large numbers they could not be ignored. Know this: No one can ever be “morally straight” and sexually perverse. No amount of window dressing or corporate or legal bullying of the BSA can change the fact the perverted homosexual lifestyle is not just “alternate lifestyle” it is an abomination. No amount of money, or lack thereof, will ever alter my opinion on the matter. If this organization ever caves to the secular humanists on this or any other traditional moral value they were founded upon I will cease financial support of it immediately.

As an Eagle Scout who holds to the traditional scouting principles, I find it a double standard that the Secular Humanist worldview crowd constantly screams in the face of Christians and anyone who holds traditional American family values, “You can’t force your beliefs on others.” then the same crowd attacks churches and private youth organizations and demand they not only tolerate, but condone their acts of deviant sexual behavior and perversion. No one forces anyone to join Scouting, but the Secular Humanist worldview crowd is never satisfied. They insist that groups like the BSA not only accept, but endorse and ultimately legitimize and promote their perverted life of abomination. So, while the humanist crowd demands “you can’t legislate morality,” they in turn insist their immorality not only be legislated but indoctrinated as well.

I cannot fathom why anyone who is homosexual would want to join a group like the BSA, who are so opposed to their perverted sexual values and lifestyle choices. I would never join any LGBT group because I am staunchly opposed to their perverted moral value system. Yet the BSA has been infiltrated, at the highest level, by those with a Secular Humanist worldview and secular progressive activist agenda. Those who hold Secular Humanistic worldviews have crept into the Executive Board of the BSA and are attempting to impose their twisted values on millions of Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts, including all the Christian organizations and churches who sponsor Scout Troops and Cub Scout Packs. What this homosexual and humanist crowd could not win by judicial fiat a decade ago, they now seek to win through subversion, infiltration and media propaganda.

Here is an idea: if these large secular progressive companies, and their executives on the BSA Executive Board, who withhold their funding from the BSA, truly value this twisted perverted sexually deviant lifestyle so much, then why do they not simply take their financial resources and create the Homosexual Scouts of America? The answer is simple: First, they would only have a tiny fraction of the number of volunteer leaders needed to run it, unlike the thousands who support and run the BSA. However, the primary reason is this: the Secular Humanist worldview crowd’s agenda is to recruit and pervert all those who oppose their deviant secular humanist worldview. In other words, they insist on imposing their values on everyone. Such hypocrisy! Such a twisted double standard!

As these Secular Humanists have done with the Girl Scouts, should they prevail, this will only be the beginning. The GSA is now so “open minded,” it appears their brains fell out. You do not have to look very far to see that this will be only the start. Next will come the other Secular Humanists demanding “Duty to God” be removed, and on and on. Then the print material will promote godless values as it does with the Girl Scout literature. If this executive board is so blind to the truth, then this board needs to step down and let someone who holds and cherishes the values of this organization lead it, not someone who strongly desires to alter these core values. The BSA does not need an Executive Board filled with liberal Secular Humanists imposing their secular humanist atheistic values on everyone else.

The Religious Face of Humanism

Beware of Secular HumanistsBy Robert L. Waggoner, used with author’s permission (1.) As the saying goes, if a bird looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, waddles like a duck, and swims like a duck, then it must be a duck. Likewise, if modern humanism claims to be a religion, has characteristics of a religion, acts like a religion, and also has been declared, legally, to be a religion, then it must be a religion, notwithstanding denials now coming from some humanists who previously said that humanism is a religion (2.).   There is too much evidence to refute such claims.

Humanism Claims To Be A Religion

That the signers of Humanist Manifesto I believed humanism to be a religion is evident by language used within that document. They thought that the circumstances of their world had created a situation “which requires a new statement of the means and purposes of religion”(3.).   They believed that “to establish such a religion is a major necessity of the present”(4.).  They declared “In order that religious humanism may be better understood we, the undersigned, desire to make certain affirmations which we believe the facts of our contemporary life demonstrate.” (5.) Humanist Manifesto I affirmed fifteen principles. Eight of these use language which requires recognition that humanism is a religion (6.).  The last paragraph of that document begins with the words, “So stands the theses of religions humanism” (7.).  Forty years later, Paul Kurtz declared in the preface to Humanist Manifestos I and II that “Humanism is a philosophical, religious, and moral point of view as old as human civilization itself” (8 .).  He also stated that “[i]n 1933 a group of thirty-four liberal humanists in the United States defined and enunciated the philosophical and religious principles that seemed to them fundamental. They drafted Humanist Manifesto I . . . It was concerned with expressing a general religious and philosophical outlook . . . ” (9.).  He then noted that Humanist Manifesto II also addressed itself to the problems of religion (10.)   The first two of seventeen statements of belief in Humanist Manifesto II are discussed under the category of religion. Although the language of religious humanism is not used in the second manifesto as extensively as in the first, there can be no doubt that the beliefs of the second document may also be categorized as religious humanism (11.). Moreover, the Bylaws of the American Humanist Association, declares that “[t]he American Humanist Association was incorporated under the not for profit act of the State of Illinois as a non-profit organization, as certified by the Articles of Incorporation dated 13 February, 1943, which Articles were amended 20 March, 1968, to reflect that the  Association has a legal status as a religious organization” (12.)

Humanism Has Characteristics Of A Religion

Humanism not only claims to be a religion, it also has religious characteristics. Among these are faith assumptions, attempts to answer basic and ultimate religious concerns, creedal statements, development out of a religious tradition, and demonstrations of missionary zeal (13.). The faith assumptions of humanism are numerous. Humanists cannot prove that God does not exist, or that he does not intervene in human events. They assume that mankind has no spiritual nature, that humans are self-existing, and that all things evolve. They assume that no absolute moral values exist, that ethics is autonomous, and that humanity is not accountable to God after this life.  Humanism assumes that there is no sin, and therefore that there is no need for eternal salvation. Humanism assumes that there is no life after death, and that there is no heaven or hell.  All these are faith assumptions. Like all other religions, humanism seeks to answer basic and ultimate questions regarding reality.  To the question, “Who am I?” humanists answer that “man is a part of nature and that he has emerged as the result of a continuous process” (14.).  To the question, “Where did I come from?” they respond that “the human species is an emergence from natural evolutionary forces” (15.).  To the question, “Why am I here?” humanism declares, “The ultimate goal should be the fulfillment of the potential for growth in each human personality – not for the favored few, but for all of humankind” (16.)  “ . . . commitment to all humankind is the highest commitment of which we are capable; it transcends the narrow allegiances of church, state, party class, or race in moving toward a wider vision of human potentiality” (17.).   To the question, “Where am I going?” humanists answer, “[r]eligious humanism considers the complete realization of human personality to be the end of mans life and seeks its development and fulfillment in the here and now” (18.).   To the question, “How do I get there?” they respond . . . “[b]elieving that religion must work increasingly for joy in human living, religious humanists aim to foster the creative in man and to encourage achievements that add to the satisfaction of life” (19.).

Humanism Acts Like A Religion

Humanism not only claims to be a religion and it not only has all the characteristics of religion, but it also acts consistent with its claims and characteristics. A publication of the American Humanist Association states that “[t]he American Humanist Association is a nonprofit organization, funded in the early 1940s to provide an alternative religious philosophy . . .”(20.).   “The association seeks people interested in becoming certified Humanist Leaders, Counselors, or ordained Ministers” (21.).  “A Humanist Counselor, AHA, is the legal equivalent of minister, priest, rabbi . . . Humanist counselors, AHA, may act as chaplains on campuses and in prisons, hospitals, and other institutions where the presence of a non-traditional or non-theistic minister is often a need” (22.).  “To extend its principles and operate educationally, the Association publishes books, magazines, and pamphlets; engages lecturers; selects, trains and accredits Humanist Counselors as its ordained ministry of the movement. . . . ”(23.). One of the goals of the American Humanist Association is to place a humanist counselor in every public school in America (24.)   If successful, humanist counselors will then be able to give guidance freely, according to principles of humanism, to children of Christian parents, in public schools, without Christian parents ever being aware of it.

Humanism Is A Legally Declared Religion

Humanism has also been declared, legally, to be a religion. In the traditional Christian sense, religion has to do with God-centeredness. Atheism, being opposed to God, is man centered and therefore, until recently, has not been considered as a religion. However, “[b]eginning in the 1940s, Christian theism came under increasing attack. The federal courts began to broaden and diversify the definition of religion until by the end of the 1960s the judicial definition of religion was altered from sustenance of belief (belief in and obligation owed to the Creator) to the impact of the belief on the life of the person expressing and holding it. . . . The basis of truth was shifting from Christian theism’s emphasis on God-centeredness to humanism’s emphasis on man-centeredness” (25.).

The courts’ alteration of the definition of religion resulted in religion finally being defined as ultimate concern (26.).   That is, whatever is of ultimate concern to an individual is his religion.  This, in turn, led to the courts’ definition of humanism as religion. In the landmark case of Torcasco v. Watkins, the U.S. Supreme Court said, “[a]mong religions in this country which do not teach what would generally be considered a belief in the existence of God are Buddhism, Taoism, Ethical Culture, Secular Humanism and others . . . ” (27.).  Other court decisions have also declared that humanism is a religion (28.).

The denial, by modern humanists, that humanism is a religion may be because humanists have begun to realize that if humanism is generally considered to be a religion, then it, like Christianity, is also subject to the First Amendments prohibition of the establishment of religion, and therefore may not be taught in the nation’s public schools.

As Religion, Humanism Worships Humanity

Christians are rightly concerned that humanism be recognized as a religion, and that as a religion humanism is currently being taught in public schools. However, the primary concern of Christians regarding humanism is not whether it is labeled as a religion. Rather, it is because of what humanism is. Humanism is a form of self-worship. It is anti-Christian. And it is anti-family.

Although the term humanism has only recently become popularized, the concepts of humanism have existed as long as mankind. Eve was the first Humanist. She wanted to become like God by eating the forbidden fruit (Genesis 3:5-6). Those who started to build the Tower of Babel wanted to make a great name for themselves. Their intent was to build a tower with its top in the heavens (Genesis 11:4-7).  This was probably an assertion of their independence from God.

Throughout history, people have often considered themselves gods. Tyre was destroyed because its heart was proud and it said, “I am God” (Ezekiel 28:2). The paramount worship of mankind throughout human history has been that of self- worship (29.).

Modern humanism differs from Renaissance humanism. Renaissance humanists were students of the humanities. In reading ancient non-Christian documents of humanity, humanists absorbed many pagan assumptions regarding the nature of humanity. Subsequently they began rejecting Christian perspectives. Humanism gradually changed from being primarily a study of the humanities to become the worship of humanity.

Religion of Humanity for the worship of all mankind – past, present, and future. “This religion had a catechism, sacraments, a sacred calendar, a priesthood, prayers and something imitative of the Trinity. It also had a social system of which Comte was the chief planner. The Religion of Humanity, as a visible institution, for a time had great vitality. Comteans formed positivist societies for the worship of great people, and their churches spread even to South Africa” (30.).

In the 1860s the formal designation of the Religion of Humanity was changed to humanism. Since then, the informal worship of humanity has continued to grow. In modern America humanism produces self-worship in many forms. Even our vocabulary emphasizes self. Self-esteem, self-actualization, self-realization, self-integration, self-determination, self centeredness, self-experience, and similar expressions of the self are symptomatic of a very selfish society. Selfishness seeks hedonistic lifestyles through homosexuality, pornography, gambling, drug abuse, etc. It produces divorce and it is the primary motivation for abortion. In our society, this selfishness becomes a virtue. Many books are written and sold about the wisdom of looking out for number one. Selfishness is the logical result of a religion that promotes a person being his own god.

Although humanists generally do not designate humanity by titles of deity, their language ascribes to humanity the roles and attributes of God. Humanism implies that mankind is omnipotent, omniscient, sovereign (i.e., autonomous), and one’s own savior. For humanists, mankind is the only lawgiver. Humanism must therefore reject any law or moral code such as the Bible, which is not derived from human wisdom.

Humanism Is Anti-Christian

As religion, humanism is anti-Christian. It not only rejects the relevancy of God, the deity of Jesus, the authority of the Bible, the sin of man, his need for salvation, and his eternal
destiny, but it also rejects, by its insistence upon individual autonomy and self-worship, Christian teaching regarding self-denial and the bearing of one another’s burdens. Whenever Christians live, as we do now, in a world whose values are predominantly those of humanism, then Christians must remember that Jesus emphasized self-denial, not self-esteem or self-worship (Mark 8:34-38; Matthew 16:24-28; Luke 9:23-27). Christians must also remember that Christianity is a religion which requires the bearing of one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2; Romans 5:1; Galatians 5:13; 1 Thessalonians 5:14).

Humanism Is Anti-Family

As religion, humanism is also anti-family. Humanism stresses individual human rights, individual autonomy, and the equality of all humankind. In humanism, the individual, not the family is the basic unit of society. The declarations of humanists are not so worded as to portray an anti-family bias, yet that is their logical and ultimate consequence. Notice that following typical humanists declarations, which, when viewed from the perspective of individual rights, seem positive, yet when viewed from the perspective of the family, are really negative.

“Humanists believe that the right to birth control, abortion, and divorce should be recognized” (31.). They say that “short of harming others or compelling them to do likewise, individuals should be permitted to express their sexual proclivities and pursue their life-styles as they desire” (32.). They believe that “the individual must experience a full range of civil liberties in all societies. This includes a recognition of an individuals right to die with dignity, euthanasia, and the right to suicide.”33 “Humanists believe in maximum individual autonomy consonant with social responsibility . . . the possibilities of individual freedom of choice exist in human life and should be increased” (34.).

Humanistic emphasis upon individual autonomy and rights, rather than responsibilities, plays havoc with the family. No longer is obedience, duty, fidelity, humility, or commitment and loyalty emphasized in our culture. “With monotonous regularity, the selfist literature sides with those values that encourage divorce, breaking up, dissolution of marital or family ties. All of this is done in the name of growth, autonomy, and ‘continuing the flux’” (35.).

Conclusion:

The selfish man-centered nature of humanism with its anti-Christian and anti-family consequences is only a small part of the religion of humanism. Its religious nature is also manifested in other humanistic beliefs better recognized in allied philosophies of naturalism, materialism, statism, feminism, hedonism, and romanticism.

For the Master

Written by James Frost:

James A. Frost
God is continually working for eternity
in me,
That’s why He touches me with pains,
and that’s why sorrows must be,
Like an artist, that He is, He chooses
what color’s best,
He knows what will strenghten me
for each test,
The picture was in His mind as
He hung on Calvary,
He wanted the highest to be shown
in me,
So carefully He he has chosen each
color to blend,
This picture was to be portrayed
to the Father in the end,
He never paints what poses, or supposes,
Only what He knows to be real,
For He knows our hearts only true
color, is the way we really feel.

Lawn Care

st-francis-of-assisiGod said: “Francis, you know all about gardens and nature. What in the world is going on down there on the planet? What happened to the dandelions, violets, milkweeds and stuff I started eons ago? I had a perfect no-maintenance garden plan. Those plants grow in any type of soil, withstand drought and multiply with abandon. The nectar from the long-lasting blossoms attracts butterflies, honey bees and flocks of songbirds. I expected to see a vast garden of colors by now. But, all I see are these green rectangles..”

St. FRANCIS: It’s the tribes that settled there, Lord. The Suburbanites. They started calling your flowers ‘weeds’ and went to great lengths to kill them and replace them with grass.

GOD: Grass? But, it’s so boring. It’s not colorful. It doesn’t attract butterflies, birds and bees; only grubs and sod worms. It’s sensitive to temperatures.. Do these Suburbanites really want all that grass growing there?

ST. FRANCIS: Apparently so, Lord. They go to great pains to grow it and keep it green. They begin each spring by fertilizing grass and poisoning any other plant that crops up in the lawn.

GOD: The spring rains and warm weather probably make grass grow really fast. That must make the Suburbanites happy.

ST. FRANCIS: Apparently not, Lord. As soon as it grows a little, they cut it-sometimes twice a week.

GOD: They cut it? Do they then bale it like hay?

ST. FRANCIS:Not exactly, Lord. Most of them rake it up and put it in bags.

GOD: They bag it? Why? Is it a cash crop? Do they sell it?

ST. FRANCIS: No, Sir, just the opposite. They pay to throw it away.

GOD: Now, let me get this straight. They fertilize grass so it will grow. And, when it does grow, they cut it off and pay to throw it away?

ST. FRANCIS: Yes, Sir.

GOD: These Suburbanites must be relieved in the summer when we cut back on the rain and turn up the heat. That surely slows the growth and saves them a lot of work.

ST. FRANCIS: You aren’t going to believe this, Lord. When the grass stops growing so fast, they drag out hoses and pay more money to water it, so they can continue to mow it and pay to get rid of it.

GOD: What nonsense. At least they kept some of the trees. That was a sheer stroke of genius, if I do say so myself. The trees grow leaves in the spring to provide beauty and shade in the summer. In the autumn, they fall to the ground and form a natural blanket to keep moisture in the soil and protect the trees and bushes. It’s a natural cycle of life.

ST. FRANCIS: You better sit down, Lord. The Suburbanites have drawn a new circle. As soon as the leaves fall, they rake them into great piles and pay to have them hauled away.

GOD: No!? What do they do to protect the shrub and tree roots in the winter to keep the soil moist and loose?

ST. FRANCIS: After throwing away the leaves, they go out and buy something which they call mulch. They haul it home and spread it around in place of the leaves..

GOD: And where do they get this mulch?

ST. FRANCIS: They cut down trees and grind them up to make the mulch.

GOD: Enough! I don’t want to think about this anymore. St. Catherine, you’re in charge of the arts. What movie have you scheduled for us tonight?

ST. CATHERINE: ‘Dumb and Dumber’, Lord.. It’s a story about….

GOD: Never mind, I think I just heard the whole story from St. Francis.

Why X-mas?

X-mas is a common abbreviation of the word Christmas. The “-mas” part is from the Latin-derived Old English word for Mass, while the “X” comes from the Greek letter Chi, which is the first letter of the Greek word Χριστός, translated as “Christ”. There is a common misconception that the word X-mas stems from a secular attempt to remove the religious tradition from Christmas by taking the “Christ” out of “Christmas”.  However, it is merely a simple abbreviation for the day in which we Christ followers celebrate the incarnation or embodiment of God the Son in human flesh as Jesus Christ.

For a number of decades the Grinches and Scrooges have tried to spoil Christmas for the masses primarily due to their dislike of all the merry making and festivity of the holiday and/or the commercialization of the day.  Sadly, the past few years these haters of the season have been supplanted by a more sinister bunch.  They oppose the Christmas holiday because it is linked to Jesus Christ. They are the atheists, those who embrace a godless religion called Secular Humanism. These new breed of X-mas hater include those who have openly embraced this atheistic belief system and those who have unwittingly been indoctrinated into it.  They are the ones who rant and rave and demand Christmas trees be removed from the public square. They push to ban Nativity scenes and even loathe the mere holiday greeting “Merry Christmas.”

Secular Humanists claim to be in favor of “free inquiry” according to “A Secular Humanist Declaration” of 1980″: “The first principle of democratic secular humanism is its commitment to free inquiry. We oppose any tyranny over the mind of man.” Yet, that is exactly what humanists do to all those who do not hold to their dogma and manifestos.  Secular Humanists exact absolute acceptance of their doctrines upon everyone.  Anyone who dares to believe differently from their godless atheistic religion come under the open wrath of Secular Humanists, often by threat of legal action from their sordid Anti Christian Legal Units.

It is stunning that Secular Humanists claim to be for free thinking, yet that is not really what they want at all. These modern day Secularists not only demand the freedom to be godless, they insist on foisting their ungodly beliefs upon everyone else. Those beliefs include such things as separation of church and state, freedom of conscience (where no act of indecency or perversion is condemned), abortion, evolution as fact (not theory) among other such causes, often championed by liberals and so-called secular progressives.

If anyone or any organization dare to question the beliefs or morality of Secular Humanists, the response they receive is not “free inquiry” or even civilized debate that may end in all parties agreeing to disagree. No, for Secular Humanists, their doctrines and tenets of their godless religion, found in their manifestos and statements of their faith, must be accepted by all. They exude no tolerance, no reason, only hard core, old fashioned, dogma.  They claim to oppose “any tyranny over the mind of man” yet in fact they do just that, by legislating their brand of morality in our state and federal legislatures, and if outvoted, they try and get the courts to legislate their values from the bench (as was the case in Roe v. Wade).  They gain converts by using public tax dollars in public education to indoctrinate even our children. If you doubt it, try getting Creation Science taught or even discussed in parallel with the myth of evolution in your school district. Try getting abstinence based sex education taught in the local school system.  Try getting any discourse on the scientific facts regarding an unborn child presented along with the preaching of abortion.  You will quickly be mocked, derided and labeled “exremist” (or worse), and if these strong arm tactics of fear and intimidation won’t work, then be prepared  to take your chances in front of a judge. Meanwhile, you and your entire family will be destroyed by the secular accomplices in the media.

Great examples of Secular Humanist’s “tolerance”, “free inquiry” and opposition to “tyranny of the mind” always seem to pop up every Christmas season. They don’t believe in the Christ of Christmas, nor do they want anyone else to either. Not only do they not want to spread Christmas cheer, they would prevent everyone on earth from doing so, if they could. Then I ask… how is that belief system and brand of humanism not pure dogma and tyranny of the mind? It is in fact both dogma and tyranny of the mind and soul .  Why then are these phony “free inquirers” so afraid of a baby in a manger?  For that matter, why was King Herod so fearful? (Read Matthew 2:1-16)

The answer is simple really. Secular Humanists vain attempts to deny Christ followers their First Amendment rights regarding Christmas (and any other outward displays of our faith) validates the very scripture found in God’s word that Secular Humanists try so emphatically to suppress. The answer is this: the Gospel of Jesus Christ changes hearts and minds. It regenerates souls that are dead in trespasses and sin. Humanists try to discredit the Bible at every turn. They claim it is false, that it is fable. Interestingly they do not seem to go after Aesop or the Brothers Grimm. Nor are they on rampages to suppress the very oppressive religion of Islam, the religion that treats women as little more than property.

You see, the religious writings of false religions bear no threat to the godless Secular Humanists. Nor do the writings of Homer, Shakespeare or writers of fiction. However, the Bible is different. God’s word has power embedded in it. John 1:14 declares: “And the Word [of God] was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” It has the Holy Spirit working through it. Romans 10:17 says “faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”  So, for those secular and humanist workers of iniquity, the Bible is indeed something to fear, to attack. Even the mere celebration or even mention of Christ’s birth cannot be tolerated.  You see… “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12, ESV). And it has done so for thousands of years and changed the lives of countless millions. The Gospel is alive!  The only chance Secular Humanists possibly have to subvert the morality of our nation is to totally silence the Gospel.  They cannot win their case by argument, nor any form of civil discourse, so they try to win by judicial fiat and their tactics include intimidation and threats… as is always the way those who impose their will through tyranny operate.  Bullying is what it is called.

The Apostle Paul declared that all scripture Is Breathed Out by God“You, however, have followed my teaching, my conduct, my aim in life, my faith, my patience, my love, my steadfastness, my persecutions and sufferings that happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra—which persecutions I endured; yet from them all the Lord rescued me. Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:10-17, ESV).

The preface to the above verses is 2 Timothy 3:1-9, ESV) and these verses vividly describe our culture and national morality in 2012, and verse 7 accurately portrays the folly of the Secular Humanists… “But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. For among them are those who creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions, always learning and never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth. Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men corrupted in mind and disqualified regarding the faith. But they will not get very far, for their folly will be plain to all, as was that of those two men.”

One thing is clearly evident to anyone who can read… we are indeed living in the last days.

The Blessing of Thorns

Sandra felt as low as the heels of her shoes as she pushed against a November gust and the florist shop door. Her life had been easy, like a spring breeze. Then in the fourth month of her second pregnancy, a minor automobile accident stole her ease.

During this Thanksgiving week she would have delivered a son. She grieved over her loss. As if that weren’t enough, her husband’s company threatened a transfer. Then her sister, whose annual holiday visit she coveted, called saying she could not come.

What’s worse, Sandra’s friend infuriated her by suggesting her grief was a God-given path to maturity that would allow her to empathize with others who suffer. “She has no idea what I’m feeling,” thought Sandra with a shudder.

“Thanksgiving? Thankful for what?” she wondered aloud. For a careless driver whose truck was hardly scratched when he rear-ended her? For an airbag that saved her life but took that of her child?

“Good afternoon, can I help you?” The shop clerk’s approach startled her.

“I…I need an arrangement,” stammered Sandra, “for Thanksgiving?”

“Do you want beautiful but ordinary, or would you like to challenge the day with a customer favorite I call the Thanksgiving Special?” asked the shop clerk. “I’m convinced that flowers tell stories,” she continued. “Are you looking for something that conveys gratitude this Thanksgiving?

“Not exactly!” Sandra blurted out. “In the last five months, everything that could go wrong has gone wrong. ” Sandra regretted her outburst, and was surprised when the shop clerk said, “I have the perfect arrangement for you.”

Then the door’s small bell rang, and the shop clerk said, “Hi Barbara…let me get your order.” She politely excused herself and walked toward a small workroom, then quickly reappeared, carrying an arrangement of greenery, bows, and long-stemmed thorny roses.

Except the ends of the rose stems were neatly snipped…there were no flowers.

“Want this in a box?” asked the clerk.

Sandra watched for the customer’s response. Was this a joke? Who would want rose stems with no flowers!?! She waited for laughter, but neither woman laughed.

“Yes, please.” Barbara replied with an appreciative smile.

“You’d think after three years of getting the special, I wouldn’t be so moved by its significance, but I can feel it right here, all over again,” she said as she gently tapped her chest.

“Uh,” stammered Sandra, “that lady just left with, uh… she just left with no flowers!”

“Right…I cut off the flowers. That’s the Special… I call it the Thanksgiving Thorns Bouquet.

“Oh, come on, you can’t tell me someone is willing to pay for that?” exclaimed Sandra.

“Barbara came into the shop three years ago feeling very much like you feel today,” explained the clerk. “She thought she had very little to be thankful for. She had lost her father to cancer, the family business was failing, her son was into drugs, and she was facing major surgery.”

“That same year I had lost my husband, “continued the clerk,” and for the first time in my life, I had to spend the holidays alone. I had no children, no husband, no family nearby, and too great a debt to allow any travel.

“So what did you do?” asked Sandra. “I learned to be thankful for thorns,” answered the clerk quietly. “I’ve always thanked God for good things in life and never thought to ask Him why those good things happened to me, but when bad stuff hit, did I ever ask! It took time for me to learn that dark times are important. I always enjoyed the ‘flowers’ of life, but it took thorns to show me the beauty of God’s comfort. You know, the Bible says that God comforts us when we’re afflicted, and from His consolation we learn to comfort others.”

Sandra sucked in her breath as she thought about the very thing her friend had tried to tell her. “I guess the truth is I don’t want comfort. I’ve lost a baby and I’m angry with God.”

Just then someone else walked in the shop.

“Hey, Phil!” shouted the clerk to the balding, rotund man.

“My wife sent me in to get our usual Thanksgiving arrangement… twelve thorny, long-stemmed stems!” laughed Phil as the clerk handed him a tissue-wrapped arrangement from the refrigerator.

“Those are for your wife?” asked Sandra incredulously. “Do you mind me asking why she wants something that looks like that?

“No…I’m glad you asked,” Phil replied. “Four years ago my wife and I nearly divorced. After forty years, we were in a real mess, but with the Lord’s grace and guidance, we slogged through problem after problem. He rescued our marriage. Jenny here (the clerk) told me she kept a vase of rose stems to remind her of what she learned from “thorny” times, and that was good enough for me. I took home some of those stems. My wife and I decided to label each one for a specific “problem” and give thanks to Him for what that problem taught us.”

As Phil paid the clerk, he said to Sandra, “I highly recommend the Special!”

“I don’t know if I can be thankful for the thorns in my life.” Sandra said to the clerk. “It’s all too… fresh.”

“Well,” the clerk replied carefully, “my experience has shown me that thorns make roses more precious. We treasure God’s providential care more during trouble than at any other time. Remember, it was a crown of thorns that Jesus wore so we might know His love. Don’t resent the thorns.”

Tears rolled down Sandra’s cheeks. For the first time since the accident, she loosened her grip on resentment. “I’ll take those twelve long-stemmed thorns, please,” she managed to choke out.

“I hoped you would,” said the clerk gently. “I’ll have them ready in a minute.”

“Thank you. What do I owe you?” asked Sandra.

“Nothing.” said the clerk. “Nothing but a promise to allow God to heal your heart. The first year’s arrangement is always on me.” The clerk smiled and handed a card to Sandra. “I’ll attach this card to your arrangement, but maybe you’d like to read it first.”

It read: “Dear God, I have never thanked you for my thorns. I have thanked you a thousand times for my roses, but never once for my thorns. Teach me the glory of the cross I bear; teach me the value of my thorns. Show me that I have climbed closer to you along the path of pain. Show me that, through my tears, the colors of your rainbow look much more brilliant.”

Praise Him for your roses; thank him for your thorns!

Thanksgiving Cruise Newsletter

On August 15th, 1620, two ships the Mayflower and the Speedwell set sail from Southampton, England, for the Hudson River, in what is now New York.

Not long after they departed, the Speedwell began to leak and the ships were forced to stop in Dartmouth, England, for repairs. On August 21st, they left again, only to have new leaks force them to return to England once more, this time to Plymouth. There it was decided that the Speedwell could not be made seaworthy for such a voyage.

On September 16th, the Mayflower again set sail for the New World, this time alone. There were 102 passengers on board, most of whom were Pilgrims fleeing religious persecution.

For 2 ½ months, the passengers and crew endured cold, sickness, bad food, and leaks that threatened to scuttle the ship, storms that blew them far off course, before landing at what is now Provincetown, on Cape Cod, on November 21st. After determining that the area was not suitable for settlement, they left and landed at what is now Plymouth, Massachusetts, on December 21st.

Despite the hardships, it was a successful crossing for that time in history, as only one person died. Nearly a year later, the Pilgrims celebrated a good harvest with the first Thanksgiving in the New World.

And 392 years later we are giving thanks for another year, and the opportunity to live free in the greatest country on earth!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Farewell To A Giant

Chuck BaldwinBy Chuck Baldwin

November 21, 2012.

On this Thanksgiving Eve, I am reminded of how blessed I have been to be able to rub shoulders with many of the political and religious giants of the Twentieth (and now Twenty-First) Century. During the past 30-plus years, I have been allowed to get to know a good many of the men and women that would have to be regarded as giants in the fields of religion and politics. Many of these have already passed on; a few remain. In the field of politics, the giant of them all is Texas Congressman Ron Paul.

There is no doubt in my mind that history will regard Dr. Paul as the greatest congressman in US history. Ron Paul has done more to guard and defend liberty and constitutional government than perhaps any man since Thomas Jefferson. Dr. Paul’s legacy and influence will remain after most congressmen and senators have been long forgotten. What Patrick Henry was to Colonial America, Ron Paul has been to modern America. I am so grateful for the opportunity to get to personally know this man and to be able to call him my friend.

I was honored to be his personal representative in several notable gatherings in South Carolina during the 2008 Republican primary. I was honored to campaign with him in Iowa during that same primary. I’ve spoken on the same platform with him on numerous occasions. I was honored to be the speaker directly in front of him (and was honored to introduce him) in giant rallies stretching from Washington, D.C., to Reno, Nevada. I have been in private meetings with him and gotten to know him on a personal level. In my estimation, America has never known a more honest and genuine man. His integrity is impeccable, his honor unscathed.

It was with the utmost sadness that I watched Ron Paul give his Farewell Address to Congress last week. As he concluded his remarks and walked away from the Well of the House, I wept. I thought to myself: “There goes the greatest champion of liberty in a century; we may never see his likes again.” I wasn’t weeping for Dr. Paul though; I was weeping for America.

Unfortunately for us, Ron’s one weakness was his oratorical skills–or lack thereof. Then again, it’s my observation that most geniuses are much better writers than they are speakers. And make no mistake about it: Ron Paul is a genius. As I understand it, Thomas Jefferson was no great orator either. But as the principal author of the Declaration of Independence, there was certainly nothing shabby about his writing. And in those days, the American citizenry was more acutely attuned to the principles of liberty than is this generation. I don’t think it is much of a stretch to suggest that had Jefferson lived in this generation, he would never have been elected President either. Ron’s failure to obtain the Presidency is not a testament to his failure; it is a testament to the failure of this generation to recognize and appreciate the principles of liberty for which Ron stood.

Furthermore, in my opinion, Dr. Paul’s Farewell Address last week (which was delivered from a prepared, written text) is second in greatness only to George Washington’s Farewell Address. It was magnificent! As was Washington’s, Ron Paul’s Farewell Address should be regarded as the blueprint for liberty for the next 100 years. If anyone is looking for a platform upon which to mount a future political campaign (if he or she is interested in preserving liberty, that is), study and memorize Ron Paul’s Farewell Address.

I initially intended to use this column to expound upon the points Dr. Paul addressed in his remarks. But it came to me, for me to try and give commentary on Ron’s remarks, would be to seriously reduce their quality. How could someone such as me improve upon what someone such as Ron Paul said?

Accordingly, with all of the earnestness in my being, I urge readers to watch and read Congressman Ron Paul’s Farewell Address. See it at: http://www.thedailybell.com/28295/Ron-Paul-Farewell-to-Congress

In all honestly, I have never heard anyone on Capitol Hill make such an intelligent, reasoned, passionate, and trenchant argument for the cause of liberty than Dr. Paul made in his Farewell Address. The principles set forth in that address would literally restore liberty and prosperity to America. Furthermore, following those principles would certainly avert the calamity that is soon coming to this country. Unfortunately, neither major party in Washington, D.C., has any intention on subscribing to those principles, because, for the most part, our federal government is led by corrupt, self-serving men who are void of any sense of honor and integrity.

Dr. Paul began his address lamenting that by outward appearances it didn’t appear that his nearly 24 years of service in Congress had accomplished much. I know that feeling! I often feel as did our Lord’s disciples, “We have toiled all night and taken nothing.” However, had Ron Paul lived during the formative years of our nation, there is no question we would be referring to him as President Paul. But make no mistake about it: Ron’s life has influenced tens of millions of freedom-loving people, both here and around the world. As I said at the Ron Paul Festival in Tampa, Florida, recently, “Ron Paul is bigger than Ron Paul!”

See my speech at Paul Fest at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aajr3zLqCzQ

Ron Paul has reignited the spirit of liberty in the hearts and minds of millions of us. His zeal and passion for freedom will resonate in the hearts of Americans for generations to come.

Unfortunately, not all of those who claim association with Ron Paul truly share his vision and passion for liberty. Many of them are self-serving opportunists, who want to personally profit from Dr. Paul’s name and reputation. Be careful of them! One thing Ron Paul never did was compromise. Did you see him endorsing the neocon John McCain? No. Did you see him endorsing the neocon Mitt Romney? No. If I’m not mistaken, I might have been the only man since Ronald Reagan whom Ron Paul endorsed for President of the United States. If so, that is an honor I will cherish unto my dying breath.

Beware of those who claim association with Ron Paul, but who promote compromise and appeasement. Beware of those who would trade on Ron Paul’s name for their own personal agendas. Beware of those who claim Ron Paul’s pedigree, yet who are nothing more than establishment insiders–or who want to be. Ron Paul was never intimidated by, or enamored with, the establishment. He could not be bullied or bribed. He was an indefatigable, courageous champion of liberty. And those who claim his legacy, but who seek the approbation of the establishment elite, never understood the first thing about Ron Paul.

As I watched Dr. Paul’s Farewell Address last week, I was reminded of how fortunate I was to be his friend and how blessed this generation of Americans was to be touched by his life and work. But as is the case with so many great men, Ron Paul has never truly received the honor that is due him.

I pray one day he will.

The Battle is the Lord’s

We are NOT of this world.  Peter and Paul said it well…

  • “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”(1 Peter 2:9 ESV).
  • “Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.” (2 Corinthians 5:20 ESV).

Being human, as most of us are, we often forget these verses, especially when things get tough.  Any time there is conflict, mountain sized problems, or people who seem out to get us, the human response is often fight or flight.  Most people will either run or do battle.  In fact, God lays out terms for our spiritual warfare in Ephesians 6:10-20.   However, what we, as Christ followers, need to realize is that we serve a God whose is sovereign, and we must never forget…

The Battle Is the Lord’s…

  • “And they were helped against them… for they cried to God in the battle, and he was entreated of them; because they put their trust in him.” (I Chronicles 5:20)
  • “For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.” (II Chronicles 16:9)
  • “…Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.” (II Chronicles 20:15)
  • …Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will show to you today: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen today, ye shall see them again no more forever. The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. (Exodus 14:13, 14)
  • Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ…. (II Corinthians 2:14)
  • “And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee.” (II Chronicles 14:11)
  • “Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.” (Psalm 60:12)
  • “He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me: for there were many with me.” (Psalm 55:18)
  • “For the LORD hath driven out from before you great nations and strong: but as for you, no man hath been able to stand before you unto this day. One man of you shall chase a thousand: for the LORD your God, he it is that fighteth for you, as he hath promised you.” (Joshua 23:9, 10)
  • “…Our God shall fight for us.” (Nehemiah 4:20)
  • “Ye shall not fear them: for the LORD your God he shall fight for you.” (Deuteronomy 3:22)
  • “The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me? The LORD taketh my part with them that help me: therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me.” (Psalm 118:6, 7)
  • “When thou goest out to battle against thine enemies, and seest horses, and chariots, and a people more than thou, be not afraid of them: for the LORD thy God is with thee, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. And it shall be, when ye are come nigh unto the battle…let not your hearts faint, fear not, and do not tremble, neither be ye terrified because of them; for the LORD your God is he that goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.” (Deuteronomy 20:1-4)
  • “With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the LORD our God to help us, and to fight our battles.” (II Chronicles 32:8)
  • “…Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.” (Zechariah 4:6)
  • “And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD’s, and he will give you into our hands.” (I Samuel 17:47)

Keep looking up!

One Good Thing The Reelection Of Barack Obama Has Accomplished

By Chuck Baldwin.
November 15, 2012.

Many people across the country are rightly concerned as to what another four-year Obama administration is going to accomplish. According to the UK’s Daily Mail Online, “Although America carried President Obama confidently into a second term last Tuesday–not everyone is jumping for joy at the prospect of four more years.

“Tens of thousands have put their names to secession petitions in 20 states, asking that they peacefully become independent from the rest of the country.

“The documents have been lodged on a government website We The People–and Texas has almost enough people behind its petition to warrant an official White House response.

“Along with the Lone Star state, petitions were filed from Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, South Carolina and Tennessee. So keen are the folks in Georgia for a separation, that they filed their petition twice.

“Unsurprisingly, the majority of these states voted for Republican nominee Mitt Romney although petitions were also lodged in Democrat strongholds such as New York and Oregon.”

See the report at:

http://tinyurl.com/cj5o7ph

A report just released as this column is going to distribution states that over 675,000 signatures have been gathered from all 50 states. Plus, at least 7 states (including Texas) have accrued more than the minimum of 25,000 signatures necessary for the Obama administration to honor with a staff review.

See the report at:

http://tinyurl.com/a83yqk9

Does anyone believe that these states are really going to secede from the union? Of course not. At least, not yet. Citizen petitions are just that. In order for a State to secede it would have to be formally declared by an act of the State’s legislature and governor. Good luck finding many of those.

However, I, for one, applaud the hundreds of thousands of Americans who have signed their State’s petitions for secession. If nothing else, it demonstrates the resolve and determination of freedom-minded people throughout the country who are more than “fed up.”

Plus, I do believe these petitions are significant. That the federal government has become a monstrous leviathan that is trampling the liberties of the people, usurping the authority of the states, and making a mockery of the Constitution is the understatement of the year. Both major parties in Washington, D.C., are led by a cabal of Big Money, globalist elites. Barack Obama might be the point man, but he has a supporting cast of hundreds from both sides of the aisle, from Wall Street, and from Corporate America. And let’s not forget labor unions, the education establishment, Big Media, and Big Religion. They are all standing in line to get their share of milk from the government teat. Hardly anyone in a position of authority and influence gives a tinker’s dam about constitutional governance or the Bill of Rights.

At least Steve Stockman was elected to Congress. The undisputed champion of the Constitution and personal liberty, Ron Paul, has retired, and his absence leaves a void on Capitol Hill the size of the Grand Canyon. Steve’s presence will help fill at least some of that void. Go, Steve, Go!

However, the problem is much bigger than one seat in the US House of Representatives. Washington, D.C., has become more than a monster; it is a menace; it is a plague. And it is destroying everything that was good and decent in America. Most of the problems that our states and local communities are dealing with were caused by the miscreants in Washington, D.C. And, unfortunately, instead of serving as a guardian of the liberties of the people of the several states, most State governors, legislators, senators, etc., have jumped on Washington’s big-government bandwagon. So, where does that leave the people? It leaves them frustrated, fearful, angry, and signing citizen petitions for secession. Who can blame them?

Obamacare is going to bankrupt an already bankrupt nation. It’s going to put sick people on an assembly-line, one-size-fits-all healthcare disaster. To get an idea of what’s coming, take a close look at our VA clinics. It’s going to drive tens of thousands of very competent and qualified physicians out of practice. And remember, Mr. Romney barely made Obamacare a campaign issue. Why? Because he and his staffers helped create the dumb thing. That’s why.

Furthermore, most everyone is predicting that Obama will coerce the US Senate (yes, enough Republicans will go along with the Democrats) into signing the UN Small Arms Treaty. Many say that this treaty could pave the way for outlawing personal firearms–maybe even the attempted confiscation of personal firearms. Not surprisingly, the sale of guns and ammo has gone through the roof since Election Day.

At this juncture, I simply must make this studied prediction: treaty or no treaty, UN or no UN, law or no law, there are millions of able-bodied Americans all over the fruited plain who are not going to surrender their firearms to anybody. They just flat aren’t going to do it! If the federal government truly wants to legitimize and explode what is now merely citizen petitions for secession into full-fledged, honest-to-God, bring-it-on, declarations of independence by numerous State legislatures analogous to 1776, let them attempt to outlaw and confiscate people’s firearms. With no disrespect to my friends north of the border and overseas, this is not Canada or Australia. This is America, and we will never surrender our guns! Period!

And as an aside, a friend of mine, not in military service, just shot a bull elk over the weekend with a .300 Winchester Magnum rifle at a distance of 960 yards. One shot. One kill. And he is only one of thousands of Montanans that know how to do that. Let me ask all of the would-be tyrants in Washington, D.C., some questions: what’s Montana worth to you? What’s Idaho worth to you? What’s Wyoming worth to you? What are the Dakotas worth to you? What’s Texas worth to you? What’s Arizona worth to you? What’s Louisiana worth to you? What’s Oklahoma worth to you?

And for all of my freedom-loving friends out there, it’s time RIGHT NOW to make up your mind and decide how much freedom is worth to you, because the only thing separating you and me from slavery is “the people’s liberty-teeth” (George Washington’s characterization of guns). You can’t make up your mind when federal troops are standing on your doorstep. You’ve got to make up your mind NOW. And I’m saying that there are tens of millions of Americans whose minds are already made up on this matter. Furthermore, it’s time for our men and women in uniform to decide what side of the line they are going to be standing on when the order is given to seize Americans’ firearms. That decision must be made in your hearts RIGHT NOW.

Add to Obamacare and potential gun confiscation an economy that everyone is saying is headed “over the cliff.” Boys and girls, America is one national disaster away from a total economic meltdown, or at the very least hyperinflation. And Mr. Obama has no intention of bringing the troops home. He is as much the servant of war profiteers as was G.W. Bush. America’s wars of aggression in the Middle East are only going to escalate–further devastating our economic well-being.

And all the while, Russia and China continue to build their militaries (with America’s assistance, no less), salivating over the opportunity to launch a nuclear attack against us.

In addition, there is absolutely nothing I have stated in this column that is not being commonly discussed in dining rooms, restaurants, and taverns all over America. Just about everybody sees the handwriting on the wall.

If you would like to sign the secession petition in your State, the White House has a petition website where you can participate. Go to:

https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petitions

I am absolutely convinced this is just the tip of the iceberg. Underneath the surface is a waking giant that is just beginning to arouse from slumber. Just exactly what this means and how it will all play out is anyone’s guess. But one thing is for sure: if the federal government wants to see another Civil War, just let it begin confiscating people’s guns. That’s what started the first one, and that’s what would start the second one.

In the meantime, these citizen petitions demonstrate that people are truly beginning to wake up. Mitt Romney would have put them to sleep; Barack Obama has awakened them. That’s the one good thing the reelection of Barack Obama has accomplished!

P.S. I am happy to announce that Liberty Fellowship now has its own website. Furthermore, readers should know that there are hundreds–maybe thousands–of people across the country who are thoroughly fed up with these feel-good, stand-for-nothing churches and are gathering together in small groups to watch Liberty Fellowship’s livestreamed service each Sunday afternoon at 2:30pm Mountain Time.

Included on the Liberty Fellowship website is a page entitled, “Find Groups.” This page will be devoted to those people who are gathering together, or who want to gather together, to watch Liberty’s livestream service online. I already know of groups like this in Virginia, South Carolina, Arizona, California, and several other states.

The Liberty Fellowship website is:

http://libertyfellowshipmt.com/

If you are already meeting in a group and would like others to know about it, so that they might join you, please submit your CITY, STATE, and EMAIL ADDRESS to this email address:

sec@chuckbaldwinlive.com

We will add this information to the “Find Groups” page, so you can begin connecting with like-minded folks who want to join Liberty Fellowship online in your area.

No Change

By Chuck Baldwin.
November 8, 2012.

As everybody on the planet knows now, Barack Obama was re-elected President of the United States. Democrats retained control of the US Senate, while Republicans retained control of the US House of Representatives. In other words, the national elections produced no change. But, in reality, we haven’t had any significant change in a national election in many years.

The last significant national election that produced dramatic change (at least temporarily) was the congressional elections of 1994, when Republicans swept both houses of Congress and denied President Bill Clinton’s Democrats control of the legislature. It was dubbed the “Conservative Revolution.” The other election that could be regarded as a national coup against the established political order was the election of Ronald Reagan in 1980.

However, within a year of the 1994 congressional elections, Newt Gingrich and Trent Lott had successfully fought off attempts of rank and file GOP congressmen to truly reduce the size and scope of the federal government, and by 1995, it was business as usual once again. And after Mr. Reagan was shot just shortly after taking office, much of the conservative agenda that he had campaigned on seemed to quickly fade away.

But ever since Reagan, republicans have routinely rejected legitimate freedomists and have nominated pseudo-conservatives. The result has always led to a resounding defeat for republicans at the polls. Since the defeat of George H.W. Bush after one term in 1992, due to his blatant big-government and globalist policies, Democrats have dominated the White House. The lone exception was the election of G.W. Bush in 2000 and 2004. But, Bush, Jr., ran as a Reagan-conservative. He wasn’t, of course, but he was perceived as one. But it was Bush, the Big-Spending-Warmonger, that doomed the GOP’s future failures. Bush’s out-of-control deficit spending, coupled with his preemptive wars of aggression, and the implementation of a burgeoning police state/surveillance society made the name “Republican” something dirty to the American electorate. As a result, the GOP is in complete disarray and without principled leadership.

Mitt Romney was just the latest attempt by the GOP establishment to force a big-government “moderate” upon party faithful. The true freedomist Ron Paul was treated in much the same way that Pat Buchanan was treated back in 1996. By hook or by crook, the GOP was not going to let a principled freedomist win the Presidential nomination. They wanted a controlled big-government toadie. They got what they wanted, and they lost! In fact, every time the GOP nominates a “moderate” as their Presidential nominee, he loses. Every time! One could almost get the feeling that the party establishment would rather lose with a moderate than win with a conservative. After all, why would the American people want a Wall Street moderate who will implement 85% of the Democrat agenda when they can elect a blue-collar Democrat and have the real deal? At least the Democrats are perceived as being compassionate. The GOP’s refusal to listen to their grassroots, to advance populist causes, and to disconnect themselves from Wall Street continues to cost them elections. In short, the Republican Party in Washington, D.C., is completely out of touch with average Americans.

The same scenario played out here in the State of Montana. The GOP candidates for Governor and US Senator (both pseudo-conservatives) lost to Democrats. (At the time of this writing, the race for governor is very close with only 7000 votes separating them; but the Democrat has held the lead all yesterday and today, and it is doubtful that the Republican can overtake him.) This is actually a good thing for the Montana Republican Party, as it removes from leadership the two most powerful neocons. These are men who had steered and manipulated the State party away from freedomist principles in much the same way that both Bush I and Bush II had done nationally. Now, true freedomists within the State GOP have an opportunity to rise to positions of leadership and begin steering the party back to its conservative roots.

But as I predicted earlier, the Presidential election did not provide long coattails. In DC, Republicans ended where they started, with control of the House of Representatives. Neither did Democrats increase their advantage on Capitol Hill at all. So, let’s not forget that the GOP controls the US House of Representatives. This means that the GOP controls the purse strings for ALL federal spending. If the Republican Party is serious about reducing spending, they have the power to do it. All monies appropriated for federal expenditures must be authorized by the House of Representatives. So, Republicans should quit crying in their milk and start demanding that House Speaker John Boehner and the rest of the House Republican leadership start growing some man-stuff and stop funding all of these big-government, unconstitutional expenditures-including all of these foreign wars that are sapping both our freedom and our prosperity.

Here in Montana, Republicans maintained a significant majority in the State House of Representatives (my son, Tim, ran as a Republican in a predominantly Democrat district, and appears to have lost a close race) and picked up the attorney general’s office. Furthermore, there were five ballot initiatives, all of which had to be regarded as Republican issues. All five passed overwhelmingly.

Republican propagandists can complain all day long about principled freedomists who choose to vote for a third party or not vote at all for a given race. But they shouldn’t blame the voters; they should cast blame where it rightly belongs: at the feet of the GOP leadership. I no more owe allegiance to a political party than I would owe allegiance to a retail store. If the business does not convince me by its product, service, and price to shop there, I am under no obligation to do so. I will go down the street. It’s laughable to think that I owe my business to one store. What a joke!

It is equally laughable to suggest that I owe my vote to one political party. Each candidate has an obligation to convince me that he or she is worthy of my vote. When he or she does, my vote is given them. But when a candidate doesn’t earn my vote, they are not getting it–regardless of party label. That’s the way most Americans vote. Oh sure, you have the party loyalists who would vote for their party’s candidate if a baboon was nominated. Thankfully, the numbers of these types of voters are quickly shrinking.

And in truth even the party loyalists who condemn people who won’t vote for the “lesser of two evils” (meaning someone from their party) are blatant hypocrites, because they won’t do it either. The only difference is whether the “lesser of two evils” is defined by either principle or party. Let me explain.

Here in Montana there was a two man race for Clerk of the Supreme Court. One was a Democrat; the other was a Libertarian. There was no Republican in the race. The Democrat won by 14 percentage points. Pray tell, why didn’t all the Republicans vote for the “lesser of two evils” and give the Libertarian the victory? Why? Because party loyalists refuse to vote for anyone who is not a Republican, meaning the “lesser of two evils.” In other words, they behave in exactly the same way that many freedomists behave: they refuse to vote for the “lesser of two evils.” The only difference is the definition of “evil.” To freedomists, “evil” is the abandonment of constitutional, freedom principles; to party loyalists, “evil” is the abandonment of the Republican Party.

Here is the bottom line: Republicans don’t win elections when they nominate pseudo-conservatives. They crash and burn. And they have been crashing and burning for decades now. If Romney had any coattails, it was to taint true Republican conservative candidates with his brand of neoconism. When will they ever wake up and realize that they are perceived as being an out-of-touch, elitist, money-driven party that doesn’t give a darn about average people? Furthermore, when will they stop treating principled freedomists like toilet paper?

All over America, in State after State, the GOP leadership bullied, harangued, and stomped on Ron Paul and his supporters. The way Ron and his followers were treated in many State GOP conventions and in the national GOP convention was nothing short of criminal. Had Mitt Romney behaved as a gentleman and not like a vengeful tyrant, had the GOP leadership treated Ron and his supporters with the respect and dignity that they had earned, this election might have turned out differently.

Frankly, Mitt Romney deserved to lose, not only due to his big-government, liberal track record, which is out of step with rank and file freedomists, but also due to the shameful treatment of Ron Paul and his supporters, which he either knowingly tolerated or may have even orchestrated.

Furthermore, for the Republican Party to ask principled conservatives to support candidates who routinely trample constitutional government, who routinely support bigger and bigger government, who routinely aid and abet a growing police state, who routinely finance more and more unconstitutional wars of aggression, who routinely vote to bankrupt America with deficit spending, who routinely provide bailouts for their banker-buddies, and who routinely treat honest, hardworking freedomists like doormats, is to ask for more and more disaster at the polls.

So, the net result of the 2012 elections was NO CHANGE. And the reason there was no change in the elections is because there was no change in the Republican Party. What was the definition of insanity again?

The Death of Reason

By Coach Dave Daubenmire.

Note: I am wrote this prior to the election. The results will in no way alter this opinion.

During the past week I spent a good deal of time outside the early voting center in Columbus. I saw the evidence of the complete breakdown of the election process. The cheating was obvious to anyone who took the time to notice.

Obama-buses poured into the center weighted down with indigents from all across Franklin County. As the exited the bus they were handed a Democrat slate card and herded into the building. No ID was accepted…notice I didn’t say required…accepted. The poll workers refused to look at an ID even if you offered one.

Busses full of Somalis were shepherded through. Some were unable to speak English so they were given a “translator” to “assist” them in casting their ballot. The “translator” was, of course, “non-partisan” and was kind enough to help them sign in and fill out the ballot according to the slate card they had been given.

America is dead, my friends. When voting is easier for a non-citizen than buying a beer is for a 16 year old you know our goose is cooked.

I partnered outside the voting center with other like-minded Pro-Lifers. Our message was clear. Vote Biblical Values. We endorsed no candidate, but by holding the bloody aborted baby signs we hoped to prick the conscience of those who still had a conscience that functioned properly.

A vast amount of our citizenry is ignorant. They speak only in the slogans and platitudes that they have been fed by the mind-controllers in the media. For the most part, the average Democrat voter is incapable of forming, or countering an argument based on reason and logic.

What I would like to share with you today is the fruit of our “public” education system. Our “education” is pure indoctrination. The last thing our schools are designed to do is to train the students to think logically or independently.

Group speak, group thought, a herd-mentality is what the change-agents masquerading as educational experts have as their ultimate goal. Reason is defined as “a sufficient ground of explanation or of logical defense.” Here are just a few of the “discussions” I had out on the streets. Please notice the inability to apply reason.

Permit me to set the scene. I am standing beside a picture of an aborted fetus with a caption that reads “VOTE PRO-LIFE.” I only respond when someone speaks to me. The brain-dead Obamatron is always quoted first in the following interaction. BDV indicates Brain Dead Voter.

BDV “What about the death penalty? Are you in support of the death penalty?

ME “Pardon me, but what does that have to do with killing unborn babies?”

BDV “Why don’t you worry about the men being put to death?”

ME “Because a jury has found them guilty. I believe in our justice system even though it is not perfect. A jury of their peers declared guilt. Aborted babies are innocent. They have committed no crime. Why don’t you help defend the most innocent amongst us?”

BDV Go F— yourself, a—hole.

NEXT BDV“ A woman has a right to do what she wants with her body”

ME“Really? Is a woman legally permitted to shoot drugs into her body?”

BDV “That’s different. Drugs are illegal.”

ME“And killing a baby is legal?”

BDV “Hey. It is her body.”

ME “Really? Are you part of your mother’s body? And don’t half of all babies have a penis? Do you know of any woman who has a penis? The baby has its own blood type and DNA and it is different from the mother. How can that be her body?”

BDV“Leave me alone dumbass.”

3rd BDV (Male) “Why don’t you want a woman to have a right to choose?”

ME “Oh I am for a woman’s right to choose, but I am fighting also for the babies right to choose. Have you noticed all of those who are pro-abortion have already been born?”

3rd BDV “But what about rape?”

ME “You think we should give the death penalty to the child because of what the father did? Shouldn’t we kill the guilty rapist and protect the innocent baby? Why do we punish the baby because his father was a criminal? Did you choose your father?”

(He gives me the double bird salute as he stammers away.)

4th BDV “You need to stop the war on woman.”

ME “That is what I am trying to do. Half of the babies killed are future woman. I am trying to protect them from the real war on women. Women have to bear the grief alone when they come to realize that they have murdered their baby. Abortion permits men to be irresponsible.”

4th BDV “Keep your politics out of my uterus, you f—khead.”

5th BDV (Pointing at the sign) “How dare you show those pictures in front of young children.”

ME “Ma’am, I am more concerned about the children IN the pictures than I am the children seeing the pictures. If abortion is such a positive thing why are we embarrassed to show the pictures to our children?”

5th BDV “The children need to be protected from seeing this.”

ME“I am pro-choice for the children seeing the pictures, but I am not pro-choice for the children appearing in the picture. You agree choice is a good thing, don’t you?”

(I am too prudish to type what that tolerant lady spewed at me.)

6th BDV “I am a Christian and Barack Obama is not for abortion!!

ME“You are completely ignorant. I don’t know what to say.”

My jaw bounced off of the pavement.

7th BDV “Those pictures are faked. That is not really what happens in an abortion.”

ME “Hmmm…that is the same thing the Germans said about the pictures of Auschwitz. They ignored what was happening around them. They allowed the Nazi to declare that Jews weren’t people. Just like unborn babies…they are not people. It is easy on the conscience to kill a non-person.”

7th BDV “You are a f—king racist.”

“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; -1 Tim 4:2

Americans are amoral. The government likes it that way.

The atheistic government schools are working exactly as designed.

The death of reason is evidence of their atheistic, amoral indoctrination. The schools teach the atheistic gospel more effectively that the church teaches the True Gospel.

Why are we surprised?

Does God Exist?

A man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed. As the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation. They talked about so many things and various subjects. When they eventually touched on the subject of God, the barber said: ‘I don’t believe that God exists.’

‘Why do you say that?’ asked the customer.

‘Well, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God doesn’t exist. Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many sick people? Would there be abandoned children? If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain. I can’t imagine a loving God who would allow all of these things.’

The customer thought for a moment, but didn’t respond because he didn’t want to start an argument. The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop.

Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard. He looked dirty and unkempt. The customer turned back and entered the barbershop again and he said to the barber: ‘You know what? Barbers do not exist.’

‘How can you say that?’ asked the surprised barber. ‘I am here, and I am a barber. And I just worked on you!’

‘No!’ the customer exclaimed. ‘Barbers don’t exist because if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards, like that man outside.’

‘Ah, but barbers DO exist! That’s what happens when people do not come to me.’

‘Exactly!’ affirmed the customer. ‘That’s the point! God, too, DOES exist! That’s what happens when people do not go to Him and don’t look to Him for help. That’s why there’s so much pain and suffering in the world.’

BE BLESSED & BE A BLESSING TO OTHERS!

A Word About The Elections

By Chuck Baldwin.
November 1, 2012.

With the 2012 Presidential election just a few days away, it is almost superfluous for me to engage in any kind of in depth discussion, as most people cannot, for the life of them, get past the political theater that is currently crescendoing to a climax. Therefore, I will simply provide readers with a few passing thoughts regarding the elections next week.

I think Mitt Romney will somewhat comfortably win the Presidential election. This will cause “conservatives,” Christians, and most Republicans to go into a state of deep hibernation, which will allow Romney to wreak havoc upon the Constitution and liberties of the people. In 2012, Barack Obama is the “Boogeyman” that must defeated at all costs. But the fact is, with the exception of Romney’s more business-friendly approach to economics, the differences between Obama and Romney are negligible.

As I have noted in previous columns, the differences between Mitt Romney and Barack Obama are miniscule on virtually every salient issue. They both supported TARP; they both supported Obama’s economic stimulus package; they both supported so-called assault weapons bans and other gun control measures; Obama has an “F” rating from Gun Owners of America, while Romney has a “D-” rating from GOA; neither man supports a balanced budget; neither man opposes foreign aid; they both supported the bailout of the auto industry; they both have a track record of being big spenders; they both fully support the Federal Reserve; they both oppose a full audit of the Fed; they are both supporters of universal health care; both men are showered with campaign contributions from Wall Street; neither of them wants to eliminate the IRS or the direct income tax; both men are on record as saying the TSA is doing a “great job”; they both supported the NDAA, including the indefinite detention of American citizens without due process of law; they both supported the renewal of the Patriot Act; they both believe that the President has “executive power” to assassinate and kill; both support the “free trade” agenda of the global elite; they are both soft on illegal immigration; they both support NAFTA and CAFTA; they both have a history of appointing liberal judges; they both believe the President has the authority to take the nation to war without the approval of Congress; and neither of them has any qualms about running up more public debt to the already gargantuan debt of 16 trillion dollars.

Judge Andrew Napolitano nailed it when he said, “Barack Obama loves Big Labor; Mitt Romney loves Big Business; but they both love Big Government.”

Steve Baldwin (no relation) agrees. Steve is a former California State legislator and former Executive Director of the Council for National Policy.

He said: “As someone who was asked by one of the presidential candidates to investigate Romney’s gubernatorial record, I can assure you there is little in Romney’s background to suggest he will be a Reagan-type president willing to undertake bold action to save our economy and restore our culture. I know every bill he signed and every statement he made as Governor. I know who his appointees were and the liberal vision that governed his actions. As Massachusetts Governor, he sided with the big government types in every crisis he faced. Indeed, he repeatedly sold out constitutional rights–freedom of religion, the 2nd amendment, etc., every time he had the opportunity to do so.”

“He raised taxes on the private sector, destroyed job creation when he implemented RomneyCare, and came out in support of amnesty for illegal aliens. Most of his judicial appointees were to the left of Obama’s two appointments to the Supreme Court. As governor, he led the country in advancing three of the left’s most sacred issues: Cap and Trade, socialized medicine and gay marriage. Romney even supported Obama’s bailouts and the useless $8 billion stimulus. And he’s hostile to the notion of engaging in serious budget cuts, telling one reporter, ‘I’m not going to cut $1 trillion in the first year.’”

“Let’s not also forget that Romney’s advisors actually met with Obama’s advisors on a dozen occasions to assist them with designing ObamaCare! It’s no surprise that Romney is refusing to call ObamaCare a tax, even though it’s the largest middle class tax hike in American history.  The reason for this is because, while governor, his RomneyCare plan–the model for ObamaCare–was attacked as a tax and he argued it wasn’t.”

“In other words, ObamaCare has been taken off the table as a campaign issue because Romney is afraid of being portrayed as a hypocrite for his past statements on this issue. This is reason number 167 why Romney should never have become our nominee.”

”I don’t care how his campaign portrays him today, his record as Governor is far more indicative of how he will govern than his campaign sound bites. If you’re not familiar with what I am disclosing about Romney, it’s because the truth about Romney was kept from Republican voters.  Yes, the conservative movement sold out to Romney. Starting in 2004, Romney created a slew of PACS and foundations that funneled thousands of dollars to hundreds of conservative groups, think tanks, grass roots leaders and GOP entities.”

”In return, many of these entities that normally would have attacked Romney during the presidential primary went silent or even promoted him. I’ve tracked all of Romney contributions to conservative and GOP groups and it’s disgusting. It means that the leadership of our own conservative movement is up for the highest bidder and cannot be trusted to do the right thing. Even National Review, the nation’s leading conservative publication, took money from Romney and for the last six years blocked all articles critical of Romney. Instead, they published a slew of articles portraying him to be a conservative superstar. It was all phony and I can prove it.”

Even though Romney will promote at least 85% of the Obama agenda, conservatives have no fear or trepidation of Romney because he is a Republican, whereas Obama scares the pants off of them because he is a Democrat. Ah, don’t you just love partisan politics?

Therefore, as I said, absent massive vote-fraud, Romney will be our next President. But he will do NOTHING to stem the tide of coming disaster. Romney will be a military hawk of the highest order. And while corporations doing business with the military-industrial complex will reap huge profits, America’s continued foreign interventionism is going to bring us to the brink of World War III. Furthermore, it is the “we are at war” mantra that is used to justify a burgeoning police state in America, which Romney will enthusiastically continue to implement. And unlike the Democrat Barack Obama, the Republican Mitt Romney will have little resistance–except from a Democrat-controlled Senate.

Republicans will maintain control of the House of Representatives, which is probably a good thing; Democrats will probably control the Senate. Between the two, I had much rather have Republicans control the House, because trying to find honest-to-God freedomists among Republican US senators (you could count them on two hands) is like trying to find hen’s teeth. Again, Romney isn’t going to appoint freedomist judges anyway, so that argument is moot. But if the first six years of this century proved anything, it proved that neither major party in Washington, D.C., can be trusted with control of both chambers of Congress and the White House. That is a recipe for disaster!

At this point, I must remind readers that the reason Barack Obama was elected to begin with was due to the eight years of the phony-conservative G.W. Bush administrations. Americans were disillusioned and angry over Bush’s huge spending habits at home and his military adventurism overseas. I predict a Mitt Romney presidency will have the same effect. As with G. W. Bush, Mitt Romney will disappoint and anger the American electorate, which will pave the way for another leftist (Hillary Clinton?) to prevail in 2016.

“And the beat goes on.”

At some point–maybe toward the end of Romney’s first term–the chickens are going to come home to roost. Neither major party has the guts to do what it takes to put America on a solid financial footing. They are both beholden to too many parasites that are sucking the life’s blood out of our country. And neither party will do a darn thing to stop this fascination with empire that is putting our troops in killing fields all over the world. The result: it’s only a matter of time before the inevitable happens. And just about anybody with half a brain knows it!

It would be nice if a few states would elect freedomist governors, attorney generals, sheriffs, legislators, senators, secretaries of State, etc., next Tuesday. At the end of the day, freedom is going to be won or lost at the State level anyway. My son, Tim Baldwin, is running for a Montana House seat. Here is his website: http://tim4hd4.com

I know of a handful of other freedomists in Montana and around the country who, if elected, could make a real difference in their respective states. We’ll see.

So, if it makes you feel better, vote for Mitt Romney. He’s probably going to win anyway–but it won’t matter! But, by all means, when you find a for-real freedomist to vote for in the other races, be sure you do that, because that WILL matter!

Don’t Believe The Spin, Obama is Political Toast

By Coach Dave Daubenmire.

Let me help you enjoy the next few days.

Obama is going to be thrown out on his nose.

I have no dog in this hunt, so this is not some biased, Republican typing you these reassuring words.

Relax, Betty. Obama is toast.

The entire election process is about money. Reports tell us that Obama and Romney have spent $2 BILLION on this election.

Two billion. Let that sink in…

Now ask yourself this. Where has all of that money been spent?

I am not a political expert, but it seems to me that a bundle has been spent on media buys…those dastardly commercials that are non-stop here in Ohio. (Damn I’ll be glad when this thing is over.)

So ask yourself this. Do the media have a vested interest in making sure that the election appears to be close? If it was a blowout election would all of these dollars be spent lining the pockets of the media-fat cats?

Pick your side…Republican or Democrat…Fox News or MSNBC…the media conglomerates get rich by making the election appear to be close. It has dominated the news-shows for three solid months.

The polls tell us the score of the game…or at least, what pollsters THINK the score is. Keep the score close and the folks will pay attention. Do you watch a blow-out football game late in the fourth quarter? We are late in the game…and the game isn’t really close.

But they tell us it is. They keep you watching. The candidates spend the dollars. The media-moguls line their pockets. Hannity’s ratings go up.

Dick Morris says this…Karl Rove says that…Pat Caddell has a different take…Paul Begala and James Carville stir their spin.

Come on now. Would you be listening to them if the game wasn’t close? Do they have more influence if the game is close? Do they profit from a close election?

Will their speaking fees go up after the election is over? Will all of the network face-time benefit them? Do they have a reason to make it appear close?

Obama will not win Ohio. He will not win the election. Bitter clingers can hardly wait until next Tuesday.

Follow your instincts and not the pundits and certainly not the polls.

Let me help you.

Answer these questions.

Can you name ONE of Obama’s constituencies where he will increase his votes from the last election?

Will more blacks turn out and vote for him? Isn’t there actually opposition to him this time from the black clergy? Will MORE blacks turn out this election? NO!

What about college students? Obama is holding all of his campaign stops in college towns. Will the young voters turn out in droves like they did in 2008 to support Hope and Change? Will large numbers of those who graduated from college in the past four years with high student debt and poor job’s vote for him again? Nope.

Is the war on women going to produce more voters? Most women are not worried about birth control and abortion. The war on women is about higher food and fuel prices. Women are worried about how they will provide for their kids. When they go to the grocery store or the gas station they are not concerned about “women’s rights.” They are concerned for their families. Women are mothers. They love their kids. They see their child’s future prospects eroding. Are more women going to vote for him? Use your head.

How about the union workers? The union bosses love Obama but the rank and file doesn’t. The war on coal alone will destroy Obama in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Do you really think he will increase his numbers with union workers? More blue-collared American workers are going to vote for this guy? Give me a break.

Do you think the Catholics are going to turn out in greater numbers for him after the brouhaha over contraceptives at Catholic hospitals, universities, and charities? The American Bishops are actively opposing him and his policies.

All the media can do is try to confuse us…make the game appear close…while they rake in the dough.

The election of 2010 saw a sea change in American politics. From local dog-catcher to the US Senate, Joe Six-Pack American threw the socialists out on their butts. The citizens are still livid about Obama-Care…despite what the Supreme Court said.

The Republican turnout was low for John McCain. They didn’t like him…they knew he was a phony. They were sick of GW Bush and Republicanism. They stayed home.

But they won’t this time. They love America and they wonder what happened to her. They don’t like Romney…but they hate Obama and his policies. Hate and fear are powerful forces. Even though they won’t admit it, they have questions about Obama. They wonder where he was born…they wonder if he is an American at heart…they wonder if he is a Muslim…

They will never voice it because they are afraid they will be called names…but they will turn out in record-droves to boot him out. They are not racist…they are Americans. And they question whether the guy in the White House even understands grass-roots America.

They hate Chris Mathews. They hate Rachel Maddow. They hate MSNBC and the mainstreamed media. They are tired of having their values mocked. They are tired of being called racist, and un-American. They are sick of the war on freedom and the war on Christianity. Nov. 6 is payback. It will be one huge “get the hell out of my life” moment.

They have watched Obama’s apology tour. They have seen him buddying up to the Muslims. They have watched Benghazi. They know Obama is a pathological liar.

They look at Romney and they have questions. But they can tell that he is a “family man.” They can tell he has a fear of God…even though they realize he doesn’t serve the God of the Bible. They see in Obama a man who either thinks he is, or wants to be, God. Ann Romney or Michele Obama? Come on…

America doesn’t hate rich people. They understand that wealthy people make America work.

Truth be told…it is the lazy-poor people they disdain…the welfare cheats…they know America needs a successful man to run the country.

Come on now. Are Obama and the Democrats more popular now than they were in the 2010 mid-terms? You know the answer.

The polls are rigged…have been all the way. Here is all you have to remember. Look at any poll…Romney 50 Obama 47…no matter the poll, no matter the numbers. A sitting president this late in an election will only get the number he has now. Obama is at 48 nationally. He won’t get any higher. Forty-eight does not win. As Yogi Berra would say…you can look it up.

The God-haters will lie, steal, and cheat to win. They better. It is their only chance.

Do you remember Barry Goldwater’s slogan when he ran for President in 1994?

“In your heart, you know he’s right.”

Obama is toast. In your heart you know it.

And in your heart…you know I’m right.

It won’t be close. Turn off the TV and enjoy the next few weeks. Just go vote.

How Did Christians Become Warmongers?

By Chuck Baldwin.
October 25, 2012.

Let me begin by saying, I’ve been an evangelical Christian since I was a child. I’ve been in the Gospel ministry all of my adult life. I attended two evangelical Christian colleges, received honorary degrees from two others, and taught and preached in several others. I’ve attended many of the largest evangelical pastors’ gatherings and have been privileged to speak at Christian gatherings–large and small–all over America. I have been part of the inner workings of evangelical ministry for nearly 40 years. I think I learned a thing or two about evangelical/fundamentalist Christianity in America. With that said, I’m here to tell you: I don’t like what I see happening these days.

Historically, Christians have always attempted to be–and have always publicly taught the importance of being–peacemakers. Have not Christians preached–and tried to practice–love and brotherhood? The early church was born in a baptism of love and unity. Oh sure, there were always individual misunderstandings and differences, but, on the whole, the church was a loving, caring, compassionate ecclesia.

Mind you, Christians historically were not afraid or ashamed to defend themselves, their families, and their country. The Lord Jesus, Himself (the Prince of Peace), allowed His disciples to carry personal defense weapons (see Luke 22:36, 38). While some Christian sects were conscientious pacifists, these were the exception, not the rule. The vast majority of Christian believers understood the Biblical, Natural Law principle of self-defense. But believing in the right of lawful, God-ordained self-defense was never to be confused with warmongering.

So, what has happened to turn the most peace-loving institution the world has ever known (the New Testament church) into the biggest cheerleaders for war? I’m talking about unprovoked, illegal, unconstitutional, unbiblical–even secret–wars of aggression. The biggest cheerleaders for the unprovoked, unconstitutional, pre-emptive attack and invasion of Iraq were evangelical Christians. Ditto for the war in Afghanistan, the bombing of Libya, the attacks in Yemen, drone attacks in Pakistan, etc. Who is calling for the bombing of Iran? Evangelical Christians. Who cheers for sending more and more troops all over the world to maim and kill more and more people (including innocents)? Evangelical Christians. Most evangelical Christians didn’t even bat an eye when the federal government sent military and police personnel to murder American citizens, including elderly men, women, and children–Christian elderly men, women, and children, no less–outside Waco, Texas. Neither have the vast majority of them piped a peep of protest against the federal government’s murder of Vicki and Sammy Weaver.

And where are today’s evangelical Christians giving a second thought regarding their fellow Christian brothers and sisters in many of these Middle Eastern countries that are being persecuted, imprisoned, tortured, and killed by the puppet regimes being put in power by the US government–at US taxpayer (including Christian taxpayer) expense? I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but more Christians have been persecuted under the US-imposed regime in Iraq than were ever persecuted when Saddam Hussein was in power. Oh! And don’t forget that it was the US government that was responsible for putting Saddam Hussein in power to begin with. The US government set up Osama bin Laden, too. But I digress.

In addition to the “white” wars (the ones everyone knows about), the US government authorizes some 70 black ops commando raids in some 120 countries EVERY DAY. In fact, the secret, black ops military of the US is so large today it now totals more personnel than the ENTIRE MILITARY OF CANADA!

A recent report noted, “In 120 countries across the globe, troops from Special Operations Command carry out their secret war of high-profile assassinations, low-level targeted killings, capture/kidnap operations, kick-down-the-door night raids, joint operations with foreign forces, and training missions with indigenous partners as part of a shadowy conflict unknown to most Americans. Once ‘special’ for being small, lean, outsider outfits, today they are special for their power, access, influence, and aura.”

To see the complete report of America’s secret wars, go to: http://tinyurl.com/3q7s335

Yet, how much of this knowledge would even faze the average evangelical Christian today? All we seem to hear from today’s “churches” is “bomb,” “attack,” “wipe them out,” etc. Then, at the same time, they get all emotional about sending missionaries to the same countries that they had just cheered-on the US military in raining down missiles of death and destruction upon (to bring salvation to the lucky ones that weren’t killed, I suppose).

And who were the ones that belittled and impugned Ron Paul? Evangelical Christians. Why? Because he dared to tell the truth about America’s foreign policy being responsible for much of the hatred and bitterness erupting in foreign countries against us.

The disciples of our Lord were called “Christians” first by the Gentiles of Antioch, because of the manner in which the disciples reminded them of Christ’s nature and teachings. I never thought I would hear myself say what I’m about to say, but the truth is, the term “Christian” today signifies anything but Christ-like. To many people today, “Christian” refers to some warmongering, mean-spirited, throw-anyone-to-the-wolves-who-crosses-them person, who then has the audacity to look down their nose in contempt against anyone who disagrees with them for even the smallest reason. And the word “church” has the stigma of being simply an enclave of warmongers to many people today. And that, my friends, is one reason so many people are turned off with today’s Christianity. And I can’t say that I blame them. I’m turned off too!

Am I a pacifist? Absolutely not! Do I believe an individual, a family, a community, or a nation has the right to lawful self-defense? I absolutely do! But this blind support for illegal, immoral, unconstitutional war is anything but Christian. Not only is it turning people against our country among people abroad, it is turning our own countrymen against the Christ we Christians claim to love right here at home.

I dare say that the modern Warfare State would grind to a screeching halt tomorrow if evangelical Christians would simply stop supporting it! And the thing that most evangelical Christians fail to realize is that the Warfare State is one of the primary tools being used to usher in a devilish New World Order that even babes in Christ know to be of Satan. Hence, Christians are helping to promote the very thing that Satan, himself, is using to enslave them.

And I realize that right now the vast majority of evangelicals eat, breathe, and sleep only one mantra: “Get rid of Obama!” They would vote for anybody to beat Obama. Well, anybody except Ron Paul, that is. Evangelicals might hate Ron Paul more than they do Barack Obama. And after Mitt Romney is elected on November 6, these same “Christians” will go into a state of extended hibernation, ignoring every unconstitutional big-government decision that Romney makes. Not only that, buckle your seat belts boys and girls, because Romney is going to expand America’s foreign wars (and the emerging police state at home) like nobody’s business. And when he does, guess what? Evangelicals will be the ones who clap and cheer the most.

Let me ask my Christian brethren some questions: does God give governmental leaders a pass on obeying His moral laws? If God will hold you and me accountable to His command to not murder, for example, will He not hold our civil magistrates accountable to His command to not murder? Or do you really believe that murder is justified on the word of a king? If so, had you been alive in Hitler’s Germany, you would have supported his atrocities, too, right? And is that whom you think occupies 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue: a king? Is murder justified simply because a magistrate orders it? And if that’s true, is it then justified that government forces pillage, plunder, and rape? If not, why not? After all, if it’s lawful for men to murder on the command of a magistrate, why can they not pillage, plunder, and rape? What’s the difference?

Accordingly, I personally believe that evangelicals owe Bill Clinton an apology. They excoriated him when it came to light that he had committed adultery. They then turned around and supported G.W. Bush’s unconstitutional, unprovoked, preemptive wars of aggression, which resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocents. Pray tell, if a President is exempt from the moral law against shedding innocent blood (Genesis 9:6; Proverbs 6:17) why should he not be exempt from the moral law against adultery?

Believe it or not, a local pastor here in the Flathead Valley of Montana recently preached a message to his congregation on Romans 13 with the typical erroneous “obey-the-government-no-matter-what” claptrap. When a member of his congregation later asked him personally to explain himself, he told the parishioner, “If government agents or troops came to my house and laid my wife on the kitchen table and raped her, Romans 13 tells me I cannot resist.” That’s what he said, folks. I’m not making it up.

Well, if you believe that Presidents are above the moral law of God regarding shedding innocent blood, why should they be held to any other moral law of God? And if Presidents are exempt, what about governors, mayors, sheriffs, etc.? I truly wonder how many evangelical Christians deep in their heart share the opinion of the above-mentioned pastor. Scary thought, isn’t it?

And, by the way, that President Obama continues to escalate America’s wars in the Middle East is the one thing that evangelicals LIKE about him. In fact, it was Ron Paul’s opposition to the wars of aggression in the Middle East that was the chief reason why evangelicals rejected him. Yes, between a war-mongering socialist such as Barack Obama, and a peace-loving freedomist such as Ron Paul, the average evangelical would choose the warmonger.

Have evangelicals forgotten I John 3:14, 15? It says, “We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.” (KJV)

And folks, need I remind you that there are hundreds of thousands of our Christian brothers and sisters scattered throughout the Muslim world? In fact, Christianity is growing fastest within the Muslim world today. I have been to the Middle East. I have met hundreds of Palestinian and Arab Christians. And I can tell you unequivocally that they do NOT hate America; they are NOT our enemies; and they love the Lord and try to live for Him as much as any of us here in the United States do. And every day many of these innocent brothers and sisters of ours are being maimed and killed by the relentless missile attacks and countless wars being perpetrated by the US government. So, pray tell, how can we claim to be Christians on the one hand and be so callused to the suffering and death of our Christian brothers and sisters on the other hand? (And that is not to minimize the deaths of the tens of thousands of non-Christian innocents who are killed in these attacks, but to simply appeal to my fellow Christians with the Biblical “love the brethren” message.) How can we justify this carnage? Oh, it’s just “collateral damage,” right?

No man is exempt from the moral laws of God. No man! Not even the President of the United States. And how much guilt do those of us in America who laud and support the Warfare State share when atrocities are committed by our leaders in our name and with our approval? And if none, then what were those trials in Nuremberg all about?

Yes, I’ve been an evangelical Christian for most of my life and an evangelical pastor for most of my adult life. And if we Christians do not quickly repent of this bloodlust that seems to dominate evangelical Christianity today (spiritually and militarily), the word that was first used by un-churched Gentiles to describe Christ’s followers will be used as a curse-word to describe those who facilitated the ruination of our country, because “whatsoever a [nation] soweth, that shall [it] also reap.”
