My Reaction to Senator Jim DeMint’s stand on Morality

Written by Samuel Lawrence.

I got to hear Senator Jim DeMint speak October 1st at First Baptist North Spartanburg at the Greater Freedom Rally sponsored by CEO Roundtable of SC. I had never heard him speak before. I brought my 15 year old daughter to the event. We were both very encouraged and impressed with his positive stand on morality. I agree with him 100%. I found it very sad and unfortunate to hear that so many good people have been bullied into whispering their support of him on moral issues. I, for one, will not whisper, I will shout it from the mountaintops. In fact, I was so impressed with him I added the following FREE banner ad of support of him my personal blog…

The ad rotates randomly among others in the top right sidebar of every page of the website.

What is so amazing is that his comments regarding homosexuality and unwed mothers teaching in public schools was not a comment on those matters but rather given as an example of how the media touts these as “ok” and lambasts anyone who dares speak out on moral issues.  And… true to form, the media propaganda machinery, once again took the information and spun it into a web of moral deception.  Senator DeMint was merely recalling an incident where he spoke against homosexuality in a prior campaign and the media attacked him. He tried to clarify and say he was not singling out homosexuals but that he would feel the same way about an unwed mother openly flaunting her improper lifestyle in front of students, and the media took that and and again attacked him. It has been in my short 51 year life span that morality has been turned upside down. When I was a child in the 1960′s, there were none on television, or the classrooms, and certainly none in Congress openly flaunting a homosexual lifestyle. Unwed mothers were similarly looked upon in disdain as living immoral lives. What has changed the past 4 decades?

What has changed is this: Since I was a child growing up in the radical 60′s and the decadent 70′s, our nation has had 4 more full decades of indoctrination into secular humanist morality in the public classrooms. This has been aided and abetted by 4 decades of “progressive” (i.e. Liberal/Humanist) propaganda spewed over the airwaves and satelites and piped into our homes as “news” and “entertainment.” I believe Americans, especially Christian Americans, need to stop buying into the secular humanist ideal that what is morally wrong, can somehow be made politically correct. What used to be called perverse is now considered diverse. This way of thinking needs to stop and be reversed. If we surrender the fight on moral issues, we surrender our freedoms. That is why I applaud Josh Kimbrell and the CEO Roundtable of SC for tying social conservatism and fiscal conservatism together, for indeed the two are really tied like two sides of the same coin.

In the story “The Emperor’s New Clothes,“by Hans Christian Anderson, two scoundrels convince the emperor they could weave a cloth so fine and light it appeared invisible. They told the king ” As a matter of fact it is invisible to anyone who is too stupid and incompetent to appreciate its quality.” So, the emperor, and all those in his court, convinced themselves and others that the new clothing made from the invisible cloth was both real and visible, for fear of appearing stupid (or enlightened, or educated, etc). So, the ruler made a complete fool of himself parading around naked. It took the innocence of a child to expose the foolishness of the emperor and all who fell for the ruse of the two scoundrels.

When I read story that as a child, I thought how silly and improbable that story was. Unfortunately, we now live in a similar environment. Today, America has been duped by two such scoundrels into believing foolishness such as the atrocities of abortion and the perversions of sexual immorality are normal and acceptable. And just like in the story of the emperor’s new clothes, people in our culture tolerate and even promote these immoralities for fear of being labeled ignorant, or homophobe, or worse… a bigot. The two scoundrels duping America, and our entire western culture, are called Secularism and Humanism. They teach and indoctrinate our children and grandchildren in our public education system. They sit in Congress and legislate their brand of “religion” & “morality” and impose it on us all, they make laws in the Statehouses across America, and they legislate from the Bench at all levels. They need to be exposed for what they are… scoundrels bent on destroying our culture, our Christian heritage and our American way of life.

Senator DeMint’s message of real hope and change on October 1, 2010, brought to my mind the passage in 1 Corinthians 1:18-31, especially verse 25 “For the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength.” DeMint’s boldness for speaking the truth is so refreshing. I wish it would catch on like a wild fire in the new 2011 Congress. I feel toward our humble Senator from South Carolina As Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 1:4-6… “I always thank God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. For in him you have been enriched in every way— in all your speaking and in all your knowledge— because our testimony about Christ was confirmed in you.”

Godspeed in your re-election Campaign Senator DeMint. Do not ever stop standing for what is true, right, moral and just.

Whatever Happened to the Christian Worldview?

Written By Samuel Lawrence

America was founded as a Christian Nation and has been blessed by God since its founding in 1776.  However, just in my lifetime, America has slid headlong into moral decay.  God’s blessings are beginning to decline.  The church’s influence on society has all but dried up.  No longer do Christians hold the respectable role as stalwarts of Christian virtue.  We are a nation adrift on a raging river of secularism and paganism.  Sexual mores have slid off the scale toward sexual perversions of all flavors.  Fidelity to faith and purity are rare and getting more rare with each passing day.

We have, as a nation, been creeping ever closer to financial ruin.  Bankruptcies are coming in waves, sparking Government bail-outs by the score.   Socialism is consuming vast segments of our society and with it, our freedoms and liberty.  Illegal aliens are invading our nation by the millions.  Substance abuse has become a chronic affliction affecting every segment of our society.  Divorce, alternate lifestyles, abortion, adulterous relationships… these are but a few of the symptoms of a society that is sin-sick and wretched.

Whatever happened to our “ONE NATION, UNDER GOD.” Whatever happened to the Christian worldview in America?  I added another leaflet to our Resources Page that was originally published in the 1980′s by the Texas Pro-Family Forum, that was headed by Miss Lottie Beth Hobbs.  Thanks to Miss Hobbs’ heirs, I have been given permission to re-publish her leaflets on this website.  The following is our newest leaflet in its entirety.  Please take time to study this treatise.  I believe that the only way our nation will survive these dire times will be for Christians to throw off their secularism and develop a Christian worldview.  When followers of Christ repent and turn back to God, pray for our nation and its leaders, and engage the culture with God’s Word, then the blessings of God will return, otherwise there is no Hope for any meaningful Change left.

In this article the following topics will be discussed:

  • What Is Humanism?
  • How Is It Indoctrinated?
  • How Is It Disguised?
  • How Can It Affect Your Child?
  • How Can You Help Your Child?

What Is Humanism?

Humanism:

  • Denies the deity of God, the inspiration of the Bible, and the divinity of Jesus Christ.
  • Denies the existence of the soul, life after death, salvation and heaven, damnation and hell.
  • Denies the biblical account of creation.
  • Believes that there are no absolutes, no right, and no wrong – that moral values are self-determined and situational. Do your own thing, “as long as it does not harm anyone else.”
  • Believes in removal of distinctive roles of male and female.
  • Believes in sexual freedom between consenting individuals, regardless of age, including premarital sex, homosexuality, lesbianism, and incest.
  • Believes in the right to abortion, euthanasia (mercy killing), and suicide.
  • Believes in equal distribution of America’s wealth to reduce poverty and bring about equality.
  • Believes in control of the environment, control of energy and its limitation.
  • Believes in removal of American patriotism and the free enterprise system, disarmament and the creation of a one-world socialistic government. 1

Humanism is referred to by Humanists as a “faith” and a “religion.”

It was declared by the U. S. Supreme Court to be a religion. Does this religion have effective Sunday Schools? Not exactly Sunday Schools. It does have effective Monday through Friday schools. That’s right! Our public schools indoctrinate this godless religion. Doesn’t the Constitution require separation of church and state? Yes, indeed! However, schools are rapidly changing from traditional education to “change agents” for Humanism. Who pays for it? YOU DO!

Read The Religious Face of Humanism (By: Robert L. Waggoner) and decide for yourself. If modern humanism claims to be a religion, has characteristics of a religion, acts like a religion, and also has been declared, legally, to be a religion, then it must be a religion.

How Is It Indoctrinated?

How could such complex issues of Humanism possibly be indoctrinated into your child in elementary or high school? It is NOT BY ACCIDENT. Under Lenin and Stalin, Pavlov developed the technique of conditioning dogs to bring about the desired results: and from this beginning, Humanist psychologists and behavioral scientists successfully developed techniques which can GRADUALLY CHANGE YOUR CHILD’S CONSCIENCE, PERSONALITY, VALUES. AND BEHAVIOR

An extensively used technique is Values Clarification, which can be used to convince the child that he or she, has the right to develop HIS or HER OWN personal values, free from parental influence and authority, and also free from religious influences. It can further convince the child that there are NO ABSOLUTES. NO RIGHT. NO WRONG. The child is told that whatever value he chooses is right for him, as long as he uses their seven-step method. To arrive at his value, he or she is to:

  1. Choose the value freely. (Free from parental guidance and religious morals of right and wrong).
  2. Choose from alternatives. (Choose from alternatives, including those DIFFERENT from parental values, such as to have premarital sex or not to have premarital sex).
  3. Choose after considering the consequences. (What child can see far enough ahead to fully realize the adverse consequences of such a blind course of action?).
  4. Prize and cherish the value. (Cherish the value because his or her own personal feelings have guided him to choose what is most important to him).
  5. Publicly confess or affirm the value. (Be courageous enough to bravely take a stand and to influence peers).
  6. Act on the value. (If he chooses premarital sex as his value, he is to take action and carry it out).
  7. Act upon the value regularly. (Live by the value consistently to establish it as his or her chosen behavior. He or she does his or her own thing). (parenthetical comments added).

Other Humanistic strategies for behavioral change are role playing, whereby the child acts out emotional situations such as conflicts with parents, also magic circles, value appraisal scales, questionnaires, diaries, journals, public interviews, etc. Survival games and open-ended situations of “What would you do if … ?” develop situation ethics, to say the least.

Whatever the strategy, the objective is basically the same - to get your child to reveal his very heart, soul, mind, and even his subconscious thoughts before his peers and teacher. In turn the peer group openly discusses his personal feelings and values and challenges him to defend his values and how he arrived at them. (Peers who challenge seldom accept values resulting from parental and religious influence). A child’s only defense for some values may be that the parents that he loves hold the same values. Thus, both the child’s values and the parents’ values are subjected to open criticism from peers when his values differ from theirs. Skilled “change agents” (teachers) can manipulate discussions to create peer pressure for conformity to non-Christian standards. They have been known to intimidate slow conformers.

Values education frequently incorporates the above techniques and strategies with these issues:

Premarital sex Racial equality Anger
Extramarital sex Drugs Fear
Homosexuality Death Hate
Lesbianism Mercy killing Love
Incest War Marriage
Women’s liberation Ecology / Extreme Environmentalism Divorce
Abortion Communism / Socialism Family conflicts
Contraceptives Free enterprise Parental values
Poverty Disarmament Interdependence (one-world government)
Police brutality Church

Are these issues on which you want your child to choose his values, free from your influence, and free from any standard of RIGHT AND WRONG?

Isn’t it time for parents to demand that Humanism be removed from our schools? Isn’t it time for parents to demand that schools educate our children in academic skills instead of Humanistic values?

How Is It Disguised?

Determining the extent of Humanism in the school requires some detective work. Terms of designation are constantly changing. It may be called values education, valuing skills, values clarification, self-awareness, decision-making, self-acceptance, Interpersonal relation skills, etc. Films, textbooks and library books frequently contain Humanism and provide excellent opportunities for open “honest” discussion that includes teacher pressure and peer pressure. Curriculums often contain courses on human (Humanistic?) sexuality and family living. Or, sex education may be sandwiched in with reading, history, health, biology, etc.

Note that textbooks and teacher’s manuals are not essential for implementing Humanism. More and more teachers are being trained with our tax dollars to be effective “change agents” and to sneak Humanism into the classroom. They are encouraged to be “models” for desired behavioral changes. Fortunately, some schools and teachers are resisting the thrust of Humanism. However, some are rushing forward to create a new social order.

How Can It Affect Your Child?

His conscience can be slowly remolded until ultimately he recognizes no need for God and parental values. Parents are portrayed as unloving, uncaring, and inadequate. Slowly, children are conditioned to view their parents with distrust and disrespect. Alienation often results. Serious emotional problems, serious moral problems, and serious spiritual problems often occur.

LET’S PROTECT OUR FAMILIES FROM CHILD MOLESTERS!

How Can You Help Your Child?

  1. The very best way to protect your child from Humanistic indoctrination is to teach them at home.
  2. The next best way is to seek out a private Christian School that teaches academics from a Christian Worldview and not a Secular Humanistic Wolrldview.
  3. If neither of the two option above are viable choices, then become actively involved and engaged in your child’s School:

  • Examine your child’s library and textbooks for immoral, anti-family, and anti-American content. Arrange to view films shown in classrooms. Objectionable material should be taken to the principal. If he is unresponsive, go to the superintendent, and then to school board members one at a time. If necessary, get the support of other parents and go to the entire school board. Voice your views to the state school board, state legislators, governor, and U.S. congressmen.
  • Teach your child to recognize Humanism and its techniques and strategies. Humanism in the school is unconstitutional; and your child, as well as the teacher, should be aware of his or her constitutional rights of separation of church and state. President Carter signed into law the Hatch Amendment to the ESEA Act. This amendment gives you and your child protection from invasion of privacy. You may instruct your child to refuse to discuss, orally or in writing, his personal feelings about his private life, social issues, or controversial political issues. Discussing personal feelings of a third person, such as Jane or John, is another deceptive invasion of privacy.
  • You may assure your child that refusal to discuss his personal feelings is not a symptom of mental illness. Role-playing was developed for mental patients and criminals. Your child should be aware that role playing, games involving “What would you do if …. ?” and games involving suicide and mercy killings can cause emotional trauma. He should inform you when exposed to any Humanistic technique or strategy.
  • Help alert other parents. Share this article, “Is Humanism Molesting Your Child?” to twenty-five or more parents. Ask them to share it with twenty-five of their friends, and these in turn to give copies to their friends.

Editorial commentary added by Samuel Lawrence

Secular Humanism became a major force in our moral decline in the 20th century and has spread like a cancer throughout our society. It pervades the public classroom from K-4 through College. It has infested our institutions of higher learning and the vast majority of seminaries in most denominations. A few schools, Like North Greenville University, have developed Christian Worldview Centers, where Secular Humanism is exposed and the Christian Worldview is taught.

Churches and denominations have been inundated by the influences of Secular Humanistic teachings. Children are indoctrinated from Kindergarten on in public schools and this has been done for many generations and now even many of the followers of Jesus Christ in America hold to a humanistic worldview rather than espousing a Christian worldview. This has also led to denominations adopting Humanistic views on a wide range of moral issues like gay marriage, homosexuality, abortion, divorce, the authority and inerrancy of Scripture, etc. These beliefs run contrary to Biblical virtues of morality and therefore conflict has arisen among Christians who believe the Bible and those who adopt Humanistic worldview.

Secular Humanists proclaim that freeing yourself of the repressive restraints of religion will somehow lead to a better and “moral society.” They decry any law that hints of following Biblical guidelines on morality, especially in regard to sexuality. Humanists loudly proclaim that “you cannot legislate morality.” The truth is that every law legislates someone’s morality and worldview. Up until the 1960, most laws on morality were based upon Judeo-Christian beliefs as found in Scripture. There were laws against abortion, adultery, homosexuality and other sinful behaviors. Today, most of these sinful behaviors are not only not punishable by law, today those who preach against such sinful behaviors are criticized, demonized and under the new hate crimes laws, can face civil and criminal penalties.

Secular Humanists espouse the idea of social evolution where mankind’s morality evolves in much the same manner as the way they profess creation evolved. “Truth” also is evolving and is relative to the whims of the day. Internet users do not have to surf the web very long to find the most ungodly sexual perversions imaginable. Graphic pornography has proliferated on the Internet and Christians and unbelievers alike are exposing themselves to the most debased forms of sexual perversion that can be imagined. Our society abounds in abortion, illicit sex, pregnancies out of wedlock, divorce, adultery, addictions, theft, murders, gang violence, rape, pedophilia and all sorts of debauchery imaginable. So, eliminating Christian morality and teachings from classrooms and indoctrinating our society in Secular Humanism the past 75+ years has not produced morality in any real sense of the word. If anything, we have been speeding backwards to complete hedonistic paganism.

In the 2nd law of thermodynamics: Physicist Lord Kelvin stated it technically as follows:

“There is no natural process the only result of which is to cool a heat reservoir and do external work.” In more understandable terms, this law observes the fact that the useable energy in the universe is becoming less and less. Ultimately there would be no available energy left. Stemming from this fact we find that the most probable state for any natural system is one of disorder. All natural systems degenerate when left to themselves.2

Christians who believe the Genesis account of Creation, those who support the Intelligent Design theory of Creation, and all those who find problems with the Darwinian Theory of Evolution (and the Big Bang Theory) often refer to this Law of Physics, in that nature tends more to devolve rather than evolve. This is certainly the case in the “social evolution” of Secular Humanism.  Under Humanism, our culture has devolved into moral chaos. Man, in his state of original sin and total depravity, cannot possibly evolve socially and morally apart from following God’s commandments.

High School – 1957 vs 2010

Secular Humanists and Social Progressives like to hail how far we have “evolved socially.”  Humanists proclaim that all we need for a social utopia is to abandon the old outdated forms of religion that restrain our “inner goodness.”  Using groups like the ACLU and other legal groups to remove all vestiges of Christianity from our public schools, government, our military and just about every public forum, we are now seeing the fruits of Humanism being harvested in our society.   However, I am old enough to have personally witnessed, in my lifetime, how far our nation has declined socially, morally and spiritually as we abandon our Christian heritage and Christian values.  I recently received an email of comparisons between the 1950′s and today. It adequately frames the discussion with very real and plausable scenarios and so I share it with you here. Let’s compare then and now to see how much better off we are today with secular humanistic values…

Scenario 1:

Jack goes quail hunting before school and then pulls into the school parking lot with his shotgun in his truck’s gun rack.

1957 - Vice Principal comes over, looks at Jack’s shotgun, goes to his car and gets his shotgun to show Jack.

2010 - School goes into lock down, FBI called, Jack hauled off to jail and never sees his truck or gun again. Counselors called in for traumatized students and teachers.

Scenario 2:

Johnny and Mark get into a fist fight after school.

1957 - Crowd gathers. Mark wins.. Johnny and Mark shake hands and end up buddies.

2010 – Police called and SWAT team arrives — they arrest both Johnny and Mark. They are both charged them with assault and both expelled even though Johnny started it.

Scenario 3:

Jeffrey will not be still in class, he disrupts other students.

1957 – Jeffrey sent to the Principal’s office and given a good paddling by the Principal. He then returns to class, sits still and does not disrupt class again.

2010 – Jeffrey is given huge doses of Ritalin. He becomes a zombie. He is then tested for ADD. The school gets extra money from the state because Jeffrey has a disability.

Scenario 4:

Billy breaks a window in his neighbor’s car and his Dad gives him a whipping with his belt..

1957 – Billy is more careful next time, grows up normal, goes to college and becomes a successful businessman.

2010 – Billy’s dad is arrested for child abuse. Billy is removed to foster care and joins a gang. The state psychologist is told by Billy’s sister that she remembers being abused herself and their dad goes to prison. Billy’s mom has an affair with the psychologist.

Scenario 5:

Mark gets a headache and takes some aspirin to school.

1957 – Mark shares his aspirin with the Principal out on the smoking dock.

2010 – The police are called and Mark is expelled from school for drug violations His car is then searched for drugs and weapons.

Scenario 6:

Pedro fails high school English.

1957 – Pedro goes to summer school, passes English and goes to college.

2010 – Pedro’s cause is taken up by state. Newspaper articles appear nationally explaining that teaching English as a requirement for graduation is racist. ACLU files class action lawsuit against the state school system and Pedro’s English teacher. English is then banned from core curriculum. Pedro is given his diploma anyway but ends up mowing lawns for a living because he cannot speak English.

Scenario 7:

Johnny takes apart leftover firecrackers from the Fourth of July, puts them in a model airplane paint bottle and blows up a red ant bed.

1957 – Ants die.

2010 - ATF, Homeland Security and the FBI are all called. Johnny is charged with domestic terrorism. The FBI investigates his parents — and all siblings are removed from their home and all computers are confiscated. Johnny’s dad is placed on a terror watch list and is never allowed to fly again.

Scenario 8:

Johnny falls while running during recess and scrapes his knee. He is found crying by his teacher, Mary. Mary hugs him to comfort him.

1957 – In a short time, Johnny feels better and goes on playing.

2010 – Mary is accused of being a sexual predator and loses her job. She faces 3 years in State Prison… Johnny undergoes 5 years of therapy.

There you have a vivid comparison of how we as Americans have evolved socially as we continue to exclude the Lord in our daily lives.

President Harry S. Truman, addressing  the Attorney General’s Conference on Law Enforcement, 1950 said this:

“The fundamental basis of this nation’s law was given to Moses on the Mount. The fundamental basis of our Bill of Rights comes from the teaching we get from Exodus and St. Matthew, from Isaiah and St. Paul. I don’t think we emphasize that enough these days. If we don’t have the proper fundamental moral background, we will finally end up with a totalitarian government which does not believe in the right for anybody except the state.”

Knowing The Enemy and How We Must Fight

By Dr. Tony Beam

I have to admit I had second thoughts about the title of this column….especially in light of the words of James in chapter 2 verse 18; “And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.” I also had second thoughts when I consider the words of Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount, “Blessed are the peacemakers because they will be called sons of God” (Matthew 5:9  HCSB).

But when I read the words of Paul written to his young protégée Timothy encouraging him to “fight the good fight for the faith” (1 Timothy 6:12 a) and I when I hear Paul say at the end of his life “I have fought the good fight….” (2 Timothy 4:7 a), I am convinced the title is appropriate.

Charles Colson, former Nixon advisor and founder and President of Prison Ministry Fellowship, verbally paints an accurate and disturbing picture of the challenges evangelical Christians face in the world today. Colson said, “Christians face two serious threats, one from the East (radical Muslim extremism) and one from within (the culture war).

The threat from Islamofacism is growing exponentially as radical elements within the Muslim faith try to destroy the very foundations of Christianity. Extremists use both the sword and fear of the sword to gain an advantage over the complacent hearts and minds of Westerners. Many Christians in the West believe the extremists represent a minor departure from the mainstream of the Muslim faith and that we should not be too worried about the possibility of another 911 type of attack. These misguided brothers and sisters in Christ believe if we will just leave the extremists alone they will leave us alone.

That line of thinking applied to Adolph Hitler by the Europeans prior to World War II left most of Europe in ruins and cost the lives of well over a million people. We make the same mistake today if we do not take the threat of an Iran armed with nuclear weapons seriously. We make it when we fail to realize the influence the terrorist nation of Iran has in Iraq, in Syria, in Afghanistan, in Lebanon, and most recently, in Gaza. We should remember it took the defeat of the Turks by the Polish cavalry in 1683 as the Turks encircled Vienna to stem the fast rising tide of radical Islam. If the United States loses its resolve to win the war on terror, however and wherever that war manifests itself, we may well see the day when all we hold dear will be relegated to the dust bin of history.

The second enemy Colson mentioned is what he calls “Neo-atheism.” This new brand of 21st century atheism is much more pervasive and exceedingly more dangerous than any of its earlier manifestations. Neo-atheism goes much farther than the mere denial of God’s existence. It actually calls for the eradication of all forms of Christianity. One prominent Neo-atheist has gone so far as to suggest that Christian parents should be prohibited by law from passing their religious values down to their children. They consider the teachings of Jesus Christ to be the moral equivalent of child abuse. They believe absolute truth is a myth and objective, fact-based reality is a fairytale told by fools. Relativism has so infested the thinking of many Christians that they are slowly beginning to buy into the ideas put forth by the Left concerning what true Christianity is all about. Moral relativists on the political Left reduce abortion to nothing more than a woman’s right to choose and homosexuality to nothing more than one lifestyle choice among many. They turn the “faith once delivered to the saints” into the “faith once distorted for the sake of political gain.”

If Colson is right (and I believe he is), how can Islamofacism and Neo-atheism threaten a culture that claims to be overwhelmingly Christian? The answer lies in understanding the real threat to Christianity is not the philosophies we face but the faith we lack. It is what I call “Regressive Christianity.” Regressive Christianity’s main problem is the lack of standing room. In fact, every Church in America could use a sign posted prominently over the pulpit that says, “Standing Room Only.” The Apostle Paul, after reminding the Ephesians that our fight is not against “flesh and blood” but against rulers, authorities, the world powers of this darkness and the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens” exhorted them to “stand therefore…”(Ephesians 6:10-17). He essentially called them to fight not with the weapons of the enemy but through the enablement of God with “truth like a belt, righteousness like armor, faith like a shield, salvation like a helmet, God’s Word like a sword, all while standing in the shoes of the gospel.”

A strange thing happened at the first Battle of Bull Run during the Civil War. People packed up their picnic lunches and loaded up in their fine carriages to ride out and watch the opposing armies do battle. But shortly after the battle began, those sideline thrill seekers realized being mere bystanders was not an option. Three times in this passage Paul says the key to the fight is to stand. It really doesn’t matter how well equipped we are to charge the gates of hell if we retreat or outright refuse to enter the battle. We must replace “Regressive Christianity” with the mystery of an aggressive yet gentle faith that is firmly grounded in God’s Word and faithfully demonstrated in the lives of God’s people.

Aborting America’s Blessings

In 1933 a godless atheistic religion called Secular Humanism was established in America. Among its anti-Christian tenets is one that sounds almost Christian. It is the 15th tenet of Humanist Manifesto I which states “We assert that humanism will: (a) affirm life rather than deny it; (b) seek to elicit the possibilities of life, not flee from them; and (c) endeavor to establish the conditions of a satisfactory life for all, not merely for the few. By this positive morale and intention humanism will be guided, and from this perspective and alignment the techniques and efforts of humanism will flow.” (Source: http://www.americanhumanist.org/Who_We_Are/About_Humanism/Humanist_Manifesto_I)

Oddly, but not surprisingly, this anti-christian religion begins with a distortion of reality, and in fact, it is what I consider “a down to earth lie.”   Secular Humanists do NOT affirm life, they do in fact seek to deny it through abortion. Today’s Secular Humanists are the loudest, most vocal supporters of abortion on earth. Here is a quote from a sample article supporting their anti-life agenda clothed in feigned American patriotism: “The Declaration of Independence asserts our rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, but conflicts between these rights are commonplace. The extreme pro-life, anti-abortion position states that if there’s a conflict between an embryo’s right to life and the liberty of adults, for instance a woman’s freedom to terminate pregnancy, life always trumps liberty.” (Read the entire story to fully comprehend the absurdity of their argument: http://thehumanist.org/humanist/ThomasClark.html).  However, all their arguments are more full of holes than Charlie Brown’s Halloween costume in “The Great Pumpkin.”

In 1973, forty years after Humanist Manifesto I, and in the same year as Roe Vs. Wade, Humanist Manifesto II emerges and it continues the distortion of the truth and throws in some contradictions for variety. The sixth tenet of Humanist Manifesto II states “In the area of sexuality, we believe that intolerant attitudes, often cultivated by orthodox religions and puritanical cultures, unduly repress sexual conduct. The right to birth control, abortion, and divorce should be recognized. While we do not approve of exploitive, denigrating forms of sexual expression, neither do we wish to prohibit, by law or social sanction, sexual behavior between consenting adults. The many varieties of sexual exploration should not in themselves be considered ‘evil.’ Without countenancing mindless permissiveness or unbridled promiscuity, a civilized society should be a tolerant one. Short of harming others or compelling them to do likewise, individuals should be permitted to express their sexual proclivities and pursue their lifestyles as they desire. We wish to cultivate the development of a responsible attitude toward sexuality, in which humans are not exploited as sexual objects, and in which intimacy, sensitivity, respect, and honesty in interpersonal relations are encouraged. Moral education for children and adults is an important way of developing awareness and sexual maturity.”

So, what do we see espoused here by the “moral” humanists? Let me list them as I read what they are saying to me.  They support: fornication, adultery, abortion, homosexuality, divorce, homosexual marriage, and alternate lifestyles of every flavor. It is amazing that in this context Secular Humanists can in the same breath speak of morality and a civilized society.  Can a society be either moral or civilized when these are the traits they seek to trumpet? My answer is no, it can be neither. Historically, these are signs of a civilization that is disintegrating. Ancient Greece and Rome are classic examples of societies that had degenerated into nothing but moral decadence. When societal mores dissolve, the culture and nation follow suit.

Secular Humanists speak of responsibility, personal liberty, freedom of choice and other nice sounding virtues. Contrary to their first manifesto (“establish the conditions of a satisfactory life for all, not merely for the few”), they choose to ignore the rights of all and choose to glorify the rights of millions of women who, through sexual immorality and/or lack of responsibility, conceive a child and then choose to destroy it through the violent ungodly act of abortion. Watch this video and choose for yourself how “moral” and “ethical” and “civilized” Secular Humanists are in supporting the destruction of the most innocent of human life. Remember that most of the women themselves are victims too due to misinformation regarding the violence they are inflicting on their unborn child. My hope is that this video will dispel that ignorance and reveal the truth. If you watch this and can still deny the existence of independent human life living and growing in a pregnant woman’s womb, you have that right, but you will move into a state of willful ignorance.

Watch this 27 minute video and then make an informed decision.

Abortion and the Bible

The following is excerpted from http://www.abortion-and-bible.com
This website is a great resource for anyone wanting to refute the nonsense arguments of abortionists and humanists.

PRO-”CHOICE” EXCUSES AND THE BIBLE’S ANSWERS

Pro-”choice” (pro-abortion) advocates give excuses in support of abortion. The Holy Bible clearly answers these excuses. Below are common excuses, followed by paraphrased verses from The Bible that counter the excuses.

EXCUSE– IT’S NOT MY PROBLEM.

  • Women: “I’ve never had an abortion. I’m not pregnant now.”
  • Men: “I’ve never caused a woman to have an unwanted pregnancy.”
  • Both: “Abortion isn’t my problem. It’s only a problem that a pregnant woman must solve. She must choose.”

BIBLE’S GUIDELINES:

  • Psalm 82:3-4 Defend the weak and the fatherless; maintain rights for the poor and oppressed; rescue the weak and needy, delivering them from the hand of wicked persons.
  • Proverbs 24:11-12. Rescue those being led to death and slaughter. If you claim ignorance of their deaths, God will know, and He will repay each person for what he or she has or has not done to help those in need.
  • Proverbs 31:8-9. Speak for those who cannot speak for themselves, defend those who cannot defend themselves, and plead the cause of those in need.
  • Isaiah 5:20. Woe to those who call evil good, or good evil; and those who put darkness for light, or light for darkness.
  • John 13:34. Jesus gave us a new commandment, that we love one another as He has loved us.
  • John 8:12. Jesus is the Light of the world, Who dispels the darkness of sin.
  • Matthew 5:14: Jesus’ followers are lights of the world, who dispel the darkness of sin.
  • Galatians 6:2. Bear each others’ burdens, thereby fulfilling the law of Christ.
  • EXCUSE– IT’S NOT A BABY; IT’S JUST TISSUE.

    • “The product growing in my womb is just cells or a blob of tissue, not a baby. I can have an abortion, since I’m not destroying a human being. That’s what the doctor and nurse at the abortion clinic told me, and they should know, shouldn’t they?”

    BIBLE’S GUIDELINES:

    • Genesis 1:26-28; 2:7: Mankind is created by God in His image, even carrying His eternal breath of life.
    • Exodus 21:22-23: The penalty under the law of Moses was to put to death a person who caused even the accidental death of an unborn baby (as by two men fighting).
    • Psalm 139:13-16: Each person is created by God, fearfully, marvelously, and wonderfully, and that person’s future is seen by the very eyes of God.
    • Isaiah 42:5 and Acts 17:25: The life and breath of people come from God.
    • Jeremiah 1:4-5: God called Jeremiah to be a prophet, even before his conception.
    • Isaiah 49:1, 5: God called Isaiah to be a prophet, even before his birth.
    • Genesis 25:22-23: God ordained a nation from Jacob (Jews) and a nation from Esau (Edomites, Arabs), while the twins were still in Rebekah’s womb.
    • Matthew 1:18, 22-23: God ordained that the Messiah, Jesus, would come from the womb of Mary, even before she conceived.
    • Luke 1:36: God ordained that John the Baptizer would be conceived in the womb of Elizabeth.

The Roots of the Emergent Church and “Relevance”

This is a clip from Dr. Francis Schaeffer’s “How Should We Then Live series”

“Do you think the emergent church has some hip, cool, new way of thinking? The mentality of “Well, we need to change Christianity…” and “The Bible doesn’t need to be the center of everything…” has been around much longer than these “cool, new, hip guru’s” would like for you to believe. The root of the problem is called “humanism”, and this short video by Francis Schaeffer exposes this way of thinking for the departure from Christian faith that it really is. Notice the similarities between this culture of 1,000 years ago and the culture of today.” (LaneChaplin.com)

Emergent Church Folly: Ignoring the Total Depravity of Mankind

Samuel LawrenceIn the Humanist Manifesto II there is a premise put forth that Traditional Biblical Christianity is no longer valid.  It, in essence, calls for Christianity to either be reshaped (in secular humanistic values) or be rejected outright.  Here are some quotes from that document:  “Some humanists believe we should reinterpret traditional religions and reinvest them with meanings appropriate to the current situation. Such redefinitions, however, often perpetuate old dependencies and escapisms; they easily become obscurantist, impeding the free use of the intellect. We need, instead, radically new human purposes and goals.” That stated goal of Humanists was implemented through the majority of Christian colleges and seminaries in the 20th century.  Humanism and Liberalism crept in and undermined the Bible’s Authority as the Word of God.  The result has been the collapse of biblical morals and values in our culture.  It lead to the demise of churches and the splitting of nearly every major Protestant denomination.

Today we are seeing the next wave of Humanism, called the “emergent church.”  This new religious zeal focuses on peace, love, acceptance, environmental awareness and the brotherhood of man.  These are not bad things, in and of themselves, but they are NOT the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  I believe the root of this so called “emerging church” is not Jesus Christ and the saving work He did on Calvary, but rather it is rooted in Humanistic teaching.  Again, in the Humanist Manifesto II, we read: “We appreciate the need to preserve the best ethical teachings in the religious traditions of humankind, many of which we share in common. But we reject those features of traditional religious morality that deny humans a full appreciation of their own potentialities and responsibilities.” That is to say they refuse to accept the deity of Christ, and instead focus on the presumed “goodness” of man.  While they may recognize the desire man has built into him for worship (instilled by the Creator) and a sense of right and wrong (a conscience), they openly reject the Bible as the Authority for morality and Jesus Christ as the only means to salvation.

“Traditional religions often offer solace to humans, but, as often, they inhibit humans from helping themselves or experiencing their full potentialities. Such institutions, creeds, and rituals often impede the will to serve others. Too often traditional faiths encourage dependence rather than independence, obedience rather than affirmation, fear rather than courage.”
“More recently they have generated concerned social action, with many signs of relevance appearing in the wake of the ‘God Is Dead’ theologies. But we can discover no divine purpose or providence for the human species. While there is much that we do not know, humans are responsible for what we are or will become. No deity will save us; we must save ourselves.”

Humanist Manifesto II says “Traditional religions often offer solace to humans, but, as often, they inhibit humans from helping themselves or experiencing their full potentialities. Such institutions, creeds, and rituals often impede the will to serve others. Too often traditional faiths encourage dependence rather than independence, obedience rather than affirmation, fear rather than courage.”

Today’s  so called “emerging church” rejects most creeds, ordinances and traditions of Christianity, and places a high value on good works and social activism. While Evangelical Christians emphasize eternal salvation through Jesus Christ, many in the emerging church emphasize the “here and now.”  That is exactly from the Secular Humanist II model: “More recently they have generated concerned social action, with many signs of relevance appearing in the wake of the ‘God Is Dead’ theologies. But we can discover no divine purpose or providence for the human species. While there is much that we do not know, humans are responsible for what we are or will become. No deity will save us; we must save ourselves.”

Now when we contrast that to God’s Word, what we find is quite a great divide between Humanist Manifesto II and the Bible.  The fallen sinful nature of man as a result of original sin is called “the doctrine of “total depravity.”  You do not need to look far to see how perverse and sinful mankind is and the atrocities he is capable of.  Yet, in the emerging church, repentance often takes a back seat to good works and “man’s potential” for good.

“The doctrine of total depravity asserts that people are by nature not inclined to love God wholly with heart, mind, and strength, but rather all are inclined by nature to serve their own will and desires and to reject the rule of God. Even religion and philanthropy are wicked to God to the extent that these originate from a human imagination, passion, and will and are not done to the glory of God. Therefore, in Reformed theology, if God is to save anyone He must predestine, call, elect individuals to salvation since fallen man does not want to, indeed is incapable of choosing God.

Total depravity does not mean, however, that people are as evil as possible. Rather, it means that even the good which a person may intend is faulty in its premise, false in its motive, and weak in its implementation; and there is no mere refinement of natural capacities that can correct this condition. Thus, even acts of generosity and altruism are in fact egoist acts in disguise.

This idea can be illustrated by a glass of wine with a few drops of deadly poison in it: Although not all the liquid is poison, all the liquid is poisoned. In the same way, while not all of human nature is depraved, all human nature is totally affected by depravity.”1

There are many passages in the Bible to support the doctrine. From these verses it is clear that the Humanist teachings are totally anti-christian. The are a contradiction to God’s Holy, inerrant Word.

Read each of these verses below and you will see the folly and the flawed vision of man in Secular Humanism.

    Church or State?

normal-1In 2009, President Obama, on a presidential trip to Turkey, announced to the world that Americans “do not consider ourselves a Christian nation.”   Wallbuilders has a great article discussing this in depth.  I, and millions more, disagree with President Obama.  We were, and still are a Christian Nation.  Unfortunately, there is a growing trend toward paganism and secularism for many Americans and, if left  unchecked, I believe that trend will continue to bring an end to our liberties.  William Penn rightly said “If we will not be governed by God, we must be governed by tyrants.”  We are very near the latter today.

Separation of Church and State has been the drumbeat of the ACLU the past several decades. However, as the Separation of Church and State article demonstrates, that is not our historical legacy.  Nor is it a phrase found in the Constitution or the Bill of Rights. It was introduced and  made the law of the land through 20th century judicial activism and morally corrupt justices legislating from the bench through Case Law.

However, the phrase “separation of church and state” does appear in an atheist document called the Humanist Manifesto.  Here is a quote from their “statement of faith”  “The separation of church and state and the separation of ideology and state are  imperatives” (Humanist Manifesto II, 1973).  The operative phrase here is “are imperatives.”  This “imperitive” continues to be made manifest in courts throughout the USA.  As our religious freedoms are being stripped away one by one, so are our other freedoms as well.

James Madison said “The future and success of America is not in this Constitution, but in the laws of God upon which this Constitution is founded.”   Since the 1960s America has been on a fast track of moral decline.  Secular Humanists talk about morality and ethics without the Bible and without God.  What they fail to acknowledge is that apart from God’s Word, there is no standard of morality.  We have seen the “fruits” of ”morality” that comes from humanistic values: sexual promiscuity, substance abuse, homosexuality, bi-sexuality, other various sexual perversions, abortion, euthanasia, prolific pornography, extreme “wacko” environmentalism, globalism, evolution, and the list of humanistic decadence and debauchery goes on and on.  In short, breaking the 10 Commandments is the rule of humanistic law.

Since 1776, America has weathered trials of all sorts and is today the one worldwide superpower left standing.  However, she is very close to losing that status with the economic and religious state we are in.  America needs to return to the God who has blessed here since 1776: the God of the Bible.  We need a nationwide spiritual revival to retain our liberties and freedoms.

2 Chronicles 7:14 says “if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”  Okay Christians (called by HIS name), you have a clarion call right from God’s Word. Let’s do it!

    No deity will save us

Secular Humanism…”we can discover no divine purpose or providence for the human species. While there is much that we do not know, humans are responsible for what we are or will become. No deity will save us; we must save ourselves.” This arrogant and foolish quote is taken from the Humanist Manisfesto II, published in 1973.  Since the first Humanist Manifesto was published in 1933, Secular Humanism has spread like a cancer across America through indoctrination in our public school system.

Today we are in a culture war,  as some call it.  I would say it is a spiritual war that has been waged since the serpent tempted Eve in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:1-7).  The Humanistic idea that “No deity will save us; we must save ourselves” is as old as that initial encounter with Satan’s serpent and foolish attempts to reach Heaven, using man’s wisdom have been as futile as those attempting to reach Heaven in Genesis 11:1-9.

I attended a great meeting of the CEO Round Table of SC last night. I heard a lot of debate and terrific commentary.  One theme I heard was that the problems America faces is spiritual.  I agree.  I think Christians should engage the culture, they should enter the political realm and speak out and, yes, even run for political office.  However, to think we will win the culture war or turn the tide of Liberalism and Socialism using mere politics is as hopeless as those building the Tower of Babel.

Our focus should be to remember Acts 4:12 “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Jesus himself declared in John 14:6 (King James Version) “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” In order to win back our culture we need to consider that we are called to be “ambassadors for Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:20).

Humanistic thought gives rise to humanistic solutions, like government bailouts. This approach focuses on the temporal, not the eternal. Until Christians realize the dire need of evangelism, the culture war is lost. Humanists realized it in 1933 when they set about to replace Bible reading and prayer with humanistic teaching and indoctrination in our public schools. Time has proved their approach successful. Without employing widespread evangelism, unwavering prayer and spreading the gospel, the culture war is lost. Fighting the culture war with politics alone is like trying to stop a tsunami with a baseball bat. We cannot save ourselves, only Deity can save us.

    The Religious Face of Humanism

    Share

    The godless religion

Secular HumanismIn 1988 Robert L. Waggoner wrote a treatise called “The Religious Face of Humanism” and revised and updated it again in 2000. His conclusion was that “the selfish man-centered nature of humanism with its anti-Christian and anti-family consequences is only a small part of the religion of humanism. Its religious nature is also manifested in other humanistic beliefs better recognized in allied philosophies of naturalism, materialism, statism, feminism, hedonism, and romanticism.”

In his treatise he makes the convincing case that Secular Humanism “claims to be a religion, has characteristics of a religion, acts like a religion, and also has been declared, legally, to be a religion, then it must be a religion, notwithstanding denials now coming from some humanists who previously said that humanism is a religion.” You can read the treatise for yourself and make up your own mind.  Waggoner’s treatise has been reposted, with permission, on our website .

When answering the question “how did America go from being a decidedly Christian nation, founded and built upon Judeo-Christian ethics and morals, to being the hedonistic, secular state were are today?” look no further than decades of indoctrination in humanistic philosophy via public education.  Public education is the “Sunday School” of this godless religion.  Even many religious schools have become mouthpieces for this godless religion.

Because of decades of indoctrination in secular humanism through the public education system, it is not surprising that many, if not most, Christians in the USA have a humanistic world view rather than a Christian world view.  For example, many Christians doubt the Creation account in Genesis and cling to the humanistic belief in Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution.  For this reason we have added a daily live feed from Ken Ham’s “Answers in Genesis” to provide believers with a resource to counter the false claims of Darwin.

If we are ever going to reclaim America for Christ, it must be through a spiritual revival of God’s people. We will never restore America to her greatness and her moral virtue by raw politics. It begins with each believer renewing their mind and adopting a Christian world view.  I applaud my Alma mater, North Greenville University for implementing a “Christian World View Center” to train students how to think and believe as Christians, rather than following the tenets of religious secular humanism on blind faith.

Which religion are you following?  Do a web search on “secular humanism” and read their beliefs in their own words.  If you agree with global warming, evolution, globalism, feminism, loose sexual morals (antithetical to bibical teaching), and others, then chances are you are a follower of this godless religion rather than a follower of Christ.  In Matthew 6:24, Jesus told his followers they could not serve two masters.  I believe that applies to following the teachings of humanism over the teachings of the Bible, as well.
